gavin mate
by Deepak Bhavnani on Oct 10, 2007 02:32 PM  Permalink

nice try...your article is stupid and idiotic

the way to unsettle these aussie ex-convicts is not to ignore their banter but to give it back to them well and proper

Pathetic article
by Raul on Oct 10, 2007 02:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Unsporting and crude behavior is just that, unsporting and crude, not some elevated artform as Gavin would like us to believe.

Now that they have got a taste of their own medicine and facing the ugliness of what they routinely do clearly they are shaken and finding new ways to elevate their version of crude sledging from what it is, pure ugliness.

Unnecessary and the sooner ICC comes down on them and this type of uncultured and offensive behavior the better.

come on man...
wake up..
there is nothing pathetic about this article.. instead it is an open book of what aussie mentality and strategy is..
i hope all our indian players read it, understand it and ignore the aussies on the field and carry on with their work on hand instead of foolishly getting into sledging - which is not our strong point anyway.

he is bang on target....nuclear explosion when it is uncontrolled it creates only destruction, there will no winners only losers.....if the nuclear explosion was an controlled one in a nuclear plant , it creates energy for nuclear power.....this nuclear power we can utilize whereas an uncontrolled nuclear eplosion we cannnot....similarly anger is also like an nuclear explosion, if it is uncontrolled it will only create disaster, control your anger and utilize it to excel in your game....you can win......

Dont believe Aussies,,,
by Deepak Jagtap on Oct 10, 2007 02:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

You always give more respect to aussie or SA players, which they really dont deserve. We had very bad experience with Greg being coach of Team India. He try to bring differences in the players. He destoryed bowlers like I Pathan who were in prime form under John Wright. Dont believe in wat they say.
BCCI should appoint Sandip Patil or M Paranjape as a coach. Mr Paranjape is very high figure coach who developed players like Sunil Gavaskar,Yuvi & many others...

interesting idea,

but understand one thing..

in football - things are always physical. so its easy to see what happened and give a card..

to give an yellow card for a verbal abuse the umpire did not hear --- i dont think its easy to do that

Sree's back for Symonds seconds

Email Printer friendly version Normal font Large font Alex Brown in Chandigarh

October 10, 2007

ON THE recent flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh, Shantha Sreesanth was seen reading a self-help text relating to self-control. Two days later, the fiery Indian paceman was being restrained by Australia's 12th man, Stuart Clark, after he taunted Andrew Symonds in the players' race upon his dismissal. More reading is required.

Even after his demotion from India's starting XI for Monday's one-dayer, Sreesanth was raising the ire of the Australians.

Sources within the Australian team say the Indian squad member made several aggressive gestures towards the visiting batsmen during their unsuccessful run chase, most of which were ignored.

But Sreesanth's attempt to goad Symonds after his late-innings dismissal - apparently by clapping in the Australian's face, followed by a few choice words - sparked a heated confrontation, with Clark moving in to separate the warring factions. Sreesanth denied clapping in Symonds's face or goading him. He admitted he said, "Hard luck, you're going to lose" to Symonds.

Sreesanth is understood to have approached Symonds in the narrow corridor linking the playing surface to the team dressing rooms, and Clark, in turn, reminded the Indian firebrand in no uncertain terms of his responsibilities as drinks man.

The row is believed to have continued in the aftermath of India's eventual eight-run victory, with Indian of

once again i feel sreesanth is crossing his limits off the field too.. i somehow feel he does things in a kiddish manner and hence will be ignored and booed by the aussies once he in on the field..

instead what he should be doing is - working on his bowling rhythm and seam position, which are his natural strenghts..

getting into a verbal conflict with a guy like symonds off the field (who's hobby is hunting wild pigs)- i dont think is a good idea..

sreesanth has to remember that he will soon be in australia next season------- the aussies will be waiting to make kangaroo curry of him..

the whole article is devoted to how to react to whatever the aussies do. thats plain bollocks. let the aussies react to whatever india does. Sledge them hard, guys! Only avoid stuff like appealing after the ball is dead. Seeing aussies so riled up is amazing to watch. If you can dish it out...etc etc.

dhoni not to read.
by Hemachandar RS on Oct 10, 2007 02:19 PM  Permalink

Just remember, some days back dhoni said he read redif, and replied back. It is another australian style of tactics against India. They may think Dhoni will read this plan accordingly. Let us wait and see what Dhoni do if he read this article.

Great tips and article

When Aussies do not use illegitimate tactics like aggressiveness, verbal sledging, steroid, abuses, etc. then Cricket team like Zimbabwe can beat them.

Simply they do not have any respect from any Cricket lover.

Sad but true
by Tarun Pathare on Oct 10, 2007 02:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

However pathetic the whole situation is, one has to agree with Gavin Robertson. He has very openly an honestly admitted that the Aussies, when it comes to behaving on the field, show some sub-human traits. Maybe that's what they've grown up on in their home country. It's true that the Aussies were never known for their politeness and courtesy. They've always been known to be bullying rowdies, who do not know nor deserve respect due to human beings. (Makes you wonder what they are doing, participating in a game that's defined as a gentlemen's game).
So what does Team India do in return? Do the same and retaliate in the same language the brutes understand?? I think, that will help their cause even further. On the other hand, like suggested by Gavin here, if the Indian players do the exact opposite (laugh & joke about things... ridicule them, if one may), that will be the most perfect answer to their shameless intimidation tactics. This will totally confuse them, make them even more ferocious and then ultimately perish to thier own mental pressure. C'mon Indians, we've defined & perected the art of non-violent retaliation since generations and it's the one that always ultimately works.
There's no better way of disarming your enemy!

True! And that's why I'd like to see Team India rise above the 'gully cricket' level and show some class. (In fact, we have it in us already. It's only some morons like Sreesanth & Zaheer Khan, who screw it sometimes).
Such 'gully tactics' can make one only a 'gully ka hero'. Our players have a much higher class and culture.
As for the Aussies, it doesn't qualify as 'gully tactics'in their case, since their whole country is made of such third-rate culture.
