If prepared fast and Bouncy pitches Ganguly will soon resign. because he can play only slow track. Dravid will be the key man, Sheawag can comback strong. Yuvi will find better his way, youngstars will really improve.

Ganguly made 10000 runs playing spin balls. He never played fast deliveries. Shewag is one of the finest in dealing with fast & rising deliveries. He has proven this in Australia and England.

Sheawag should be selected for Australia tour. He will be a big head ake for the Kangaroes.

I hope you are right! But if he gets out too soon, he will give an even bigger HEAD AKE to the Indians.
I hope that with SHEAWAG around, KANGAROES get HEAD AKE more often than the Indians!

No I don't. But it looks as though you do. For example look at the Sehwag's entry at cricinfo:
Full name Virender Sehwag
Still any doubts about the spelling? If suggest, read any article about Sehwag. Or perhaps I should change the spelling of your name to Zuari!

With the last innings he played at Delhi, Ganguly did show that he is far better player than the one who lost his place last year. Let's give him a long rope and prove that he is able to make it to the Australian Tour. We need all the experience which we can take. Yuvi can always make it to the team later, he has age to his side.

Given a choice any sensible person would try to attack and achieve goals which are easily achievable, Right? In which case why does the BCCI - a. not do anything to improve spectator facilities at the cricket stadiums? b. have a rotation policy to ensure more fringe players get selected as part of the shortlisted 15 so that they get initiated into the "international cricket environment" before they actually make their debut? c. when appointing foreign coaches also have young indian coaches assist them (again by rotation) so that the same standards of training and strategising can be imbibed at the domestic level? d. invite mre teams from overseas (the A and B teams) to play in India (and vice-versa)which will give many fringe players more exposure? e. run the IPL to give a chance to more dometic players rather than vie with ICL for the likes of Brian Lara? f. have a structured approach to ensure more Indians come upto international standards for umpiring and eventually qulify for the ICC panel? there could be so many more (like having a CEO etc.).. The BCCI's efforts at having bouncy and bowler friendly tracks is one amongst so many similar important issues.... when did you last see a coverage by rediff or any other newspaper on broader and equally important issues? I am sure the BCCI is trying to do a lot, however, I am not sure about its priorities.
I read this on the DNA (a mumbai newspaper) website. Clearly, all these talented young players moved to ICL cause they did not get opportunity from BCCI. It is an interview of Inzamam-ul-Haq who is leading Hyderabad heroes in the ICL. You can read the entire interview on the DNA website:
Q: How has the experience been so far?
Inzamam: It has been quite enriching. The talent these youngsters have is amazing. I am leading the Hyderabad Heroes and some of its players are good enough to get into any national side. I am particularly impressed by Ambati Rayudu and Anirudh Singh and am sure they have much more to give to Indian cricket.

One of the main reason why India suceeded in Australia last tour was success of indian openers. The absence of Mcgrath and Warne is also another reason. Mcgrath always removes opener cheaply. Infact a player like Sehwag with such a flawed technique, he could get him 9 out of 10 times in Australia. Remeber what Asif did to Sehwag in Pakstan. Asif is the only guy close to Mcgrath in terms of accuracy.
RE:If we have bouncy pitches
by lutiya doobi on Nov 29, 2007 03:28 PM Permalink
Yes you are right. McGrath and Warne were out of the whole series. Gillepsie played a few matches. Brett Lee was also out for the first two matches. Fast bowling was done by the likes of Andy Bichel, Bradd Williams etc. Then, of course, Sidney was a dead pitch both for fast bowlers and spinners. We made 700 plus runs in the first innings and still couldn't win the match.

Dada is the most elegant left hander in world of cricket till date. He is an opener and you would see how performs. In recent tour to SA where bouncy tracks are there, he was the lone Indian batsman to do something of note. So be sure to see him perform.
RE:If we have bouncy pitches
by AN on Nov 29, 2007 03:35 PM Permalink
Dada has poor fitness and often drops catches, get his partner run out and himself gets run out. running between wickets is also pathetic but in India stars can not be crticised and they are willing to look at their weakness and improve upon.
RE:If we have bouncy pitches
by TS on Nov 29, 2007 03:03 PM Permalink
We have good spin players. But we don't have a single player who is very good against quality fast bowling. We don't have players of the calliber of kallis, ponting, hayden or pieterson. But it's true that we have few players who are very elegant stroke makers. It's always good to watch them playing. But unfortunately in cricket if you don't have proper technique, you can't last long.
RE:If we have bouncy pitches
by Karunakar Patil on Nov 29, 2007 03:08 PM Permalink
From where you got this valuable information that DADA is more elegant left hander than Gower, Sobers and Lara. I want to refer that . Then I might find myself more elegant Right handed batsmen than Bradman , Sachin & Richards
every country at home is preparing pitches which are suited to them, Have we ever noticed South Africa, New Zealand , Australia, England preparing slow spinner freindly tracks? NEVER. Hence there is nothing wrong in preparing slow tracks on indian grounds.
RE:why bouncy wickets?
by YamChuk on Nov 29, 2007 02:11 PM Permalink
Because faster wickets = More Result oriented and batsmen friendly wickets . After all the 20-20 was introduced to provide the audience with more sixers and fours .
RE:why bouncy wickets?
by ganesh v on Nov 29, 2007 02:16 PM Permalink
I perfectly agree with you.
The nature of Indians strengths are suppose to be brain than muscle. we use our brains to spin ( or not to spin) the ball and take wickets. whereas the aussies or safricans use their muscles to hit the players. so we must always prepare pitches that suits us.
RE:why bouncy wickets?
by madan menon on Nov 29, 2007 02:27 PM Permalink
Does that mean we do not want to groom any more pace bowlers in India? What will happen to our team during their overseas tour? Will they be able to face the pace attack? I think we should prepare spin & fast tracks and give equal importance to both of them.
RE:'India will soon have the best pitches'
by I Am legend on Nov 29, 2007 02:23 PM Permalink
there is no difference btw pitches in india my bedroom tiles..both r flat
Unless BCCI comes out with sporty pitches that have pace, bounce and turn as days progress it is diffuclt to develop a good crop of cricketers who can excel in all conditions. We always have had batsmen who score tons and tons in India but when pitched in intl arena come up short.
I personally feel every country will have the home advantage over the others. Coming to India infact we have the least advantage in this regard. Tanking examples like the one in Kanpur and etc coz' politics plays a gret role here.
RE:Pitches in India
by I Am legend on Nov 29, 2007 02:45 PM Permalink
lol..india doesnt always produce spinning tracks..they produce flat tricks.....thats the big problem..all the matches played on flat track tend to end in a boring draw
India should really think of preparing pitches that suites batsman and bowlers also. The present situation is such that no fast bowler would like to ball except for first intial overs of the day...The picth should have some grass on it so that the pace bowlers can also enjoy and do the honours as its always a batsmen game in India.
