A time to ponder!
by Aniruddha Sengupta on Nov 29, 2007 02:59 PM

Given a choice any sensible person would try to attack and achieve goals which are easily achievable, Right? In which case why does the BCCI -
a. not do anything to improve spectator facilities at the cricket stadiums?
b. have a rotation policy to ensure more fringe players get selected as part of the shortlisted 15 so that they get initiated into the "international cricket environment" before they actually make their debut?
c. when appointing foreign coaches also have young indian coaches assist them (again by rotation) so that the same standards of training and strategising can be imbibed at the domestic level?
d. invite mre teams from overseas (the A and B teams) to play in India (and vice-versa)which will give many fringe players more exposure?
e. run the IPL to give a chance to more dometic players rather than vie with ICL for the likes of Brian Lara?
f. have a structured approach to ensure more Indians come upto international standards for umpiring and eventually qulify for the ICC panel?
there could be so many more (like having a CEO etc.)..
The BCCI's efforts at having bouncy and bowler friendly tracks is one amongst so many similar important issues.... when did you last see a coverage by rediff or any other newspaper on broader and equally important issues?
I am sure the BCCI is trying to do a lot, however, I am not sure about its priorities.
