Come back Dada
by Jolly on Nov 07, 2007 11:46 AM  Permalink

For this team, Dada is the right person to lead. But the vested interests will not allow that.

Re:Tendu takes right decision
by John Bosco on Nov 07, 2007 11:39 AM  Permalink

Tendulkar has taken the right decision staying away from captaincy.Watching Tendulkar arrive at the scene first and then blaze away,it is clear that at his best he was a natural, innovative player. He has delighted all of us.But today when the reflexes are dimming he has to labour more. This is obvious and he knows it.Only the public is stuck with the Tendulkar of old and want him to play in that mode.It is good he has realised he has to work harder now on his batting like Dravid always did not being so gifted. So he has made the right choice.Captaincy will be very difficult for him and he is wise to stay away.

it is time.......
by on Nov 07, 2007 11:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

now that sachin's pulled out of the race, obly 3 options are left with the BIG men of selections. the obvious and apparent choice would be dhoni. as much as one despised the antics of former coach chappel during his tenure, one cannot but ignore the harsh reality behind his view on dhoni becoming skipper.it would be like a heavy load over his head at the time when not only is he at the helm in the other two editions but still making a mark in international cricket(by having say someone like gilly as a benchmark,he's still got eons to go)
anil kumble and vvs laxman are soild pillars of the indian test setup but both lack the experience and shrewdity that need to come with the job. without a doubt they are exceptional cricketers and extremely dignified gentleman but those characteristics haven't really helped indian cricket over the years(ala dravid)
which leaves us with just one option.there need not be any explanations given for this one. he's got a couple of years of good solid cricket left in him. his commitment is unquestionable and he brings a dimension to captaincy which has "killer instinct" writen all over it. he may be a disaster at running between the wickets and a comical diver, but when it comes to leading the side, simply put...HE'S THE MAN. dada..please come back would you??

Lakshman and Kumble led their states for a good amount of time and has good thinkers and an exceptional understanding of the game. we have seen them helping the captains a lot fo tiems whenever captian needs an advice. Your comment that they are too soft and cant be the captain's material is baselss and rubbish.

Captaincy is not all about taking your shirt off and pretending an injury when you see a grenn top pitch, making politics and look like a shaddy fielder and running between wickets.

Coming to Saurav, he may be a good leader, but he doesnt deserve a place in the test team for a long time. He is in the test team only because the team is winning on top of good performances by dravid ( averages 200% under saurav in test matches) and backed by screwed bengali politicians. Nobody bothered about his batting because team was winning. Remember that he doesnt have a 50 for an extended period of 1 1 /2 years and every fast bowler wants to bounce him away and will dream of getting his wicket very cheaply. He dont deserve a chance and wont be begged like a lot of bengalis dream in this forum.

IF the selectors are looking for an immediate change towards youngsters , dhoni should be given a chance. If the selectors wanted to give Dhoni some chance to settle down in test cricket, they should make either lakshman and Kumble the captian and give Dhoni Vice captaincy and gromme him for 1 year and Dhoni will be an automatic choice for the next Captain.

No matter who will

Respect Sachin's Decision
by Reza Arif on Nov 07, 2007 11:35 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

With the way the selectors have been behaving .. it was logical that Sachin shud not accept this offer .. as he was only being made a scapegoat for this tough series...

He woud hv probably thought about it seriously though to see if he could probably produce unexpected results (A WIN) down under .. a series win down under as captain wud hv been a feather in his cap .. but the risk of non-performance was too high .. and he wudnt find a place in the team .. if we lose badly..

Also, the treatment the seniors are getting in the team is something that needs further probe .. Dravid relinquishing captaincy ahead of home series after a succesful away series .. and now Sachin saying No to captaincy .. there is definitely something that is not right!

Anyways .. it is Sachin's choice and we shud respect his decision!

It was not Sachin's decision. The Marathi coterie wanted him at the helm. But Selfish Sachin preferred an extended membership in the team. We will definitely respect his decision for stapying away from the captaincy but for a different reason.

its not that ...i believe a captain is just as good as the team and if sachin had been educated he would have realized that this team is the best indian team in a long time that one could get to lead....he should have taken up this job cleared up his history as a captain...instead he decided to take the fire escape just like he stood down from the 20-20 WC being scared of repeating the ODI WC performance and india went along to win the 2020WC ...he missed the bus once and hez gonna miss it again ...we have a very strong team and no one in their right minds can refuse to lead this champion team

he missed a fabulous opportunity is all I can say...he could have easlily redeemed himself of his past sins with this talented team
if you look at it ...an agressive team actually needs a person of sachins stature to come in and discipline and give the right direction to their agression and talent and teach dhoni how to last the 5 days of a test match
but again i dont think the captain doesnt make any difference to the team ...in cricket you must just play well and nothing else matters no captain no coach no performance incentives nothing

tendulkar - old man are you crazy? or do you think im crazy?

pawar - why? u dont want to be the captain of Indian team?

Sachin - you think im insane to do captainship for this indian team and get disgraced like all the other captains....i would rather retire right now than be captain of India ...it is the worst job you can give to anyone

Dear mr atal adhvan.......... Ur gangu has created mess out of himself while he was captaining and got the treatment for that... Why u guys dragging dravid into this.. He was the only choice after ur gangu's politics era with dalmiya.Ur gangu was running with poor form at the time he kicked out and he doesnot had anything to prove that he deserved a place in team at that time....Even then also the great guns were not ready to accept the challenge and the selectors gave the captaincy to dravid. He is not politician like ur gangu. If he was against ur gangu he could have forced selectors by telling that i want young guns not a old man like gangu..... U bengalis first know the facts and then bark about dravids character idiots....

Reddy ga..u .You need some education, Dravid & chappel had put their foot down in every meeting against gangulys selection till the S. Africa series when the team was in bad shape and all their experiments faled, and till they finally had no say in the selection. Now u will say how i know all this....its the same way u know about gangulys politics.
Thats according to ur definition that u call loosers as great and people who have guts and ambition as politician.
Well dont mark the bengalis only....i can see 90% of the support for Dravid from Karnataka only.

EVERYTIME INDIA LOSES MEDIA CRIES ON SACHIN AND IF WINS APPLAUDS TEAM
by SURYAPRAKASH TATA on Nov 07, 2007 11:18 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

IN INDIA MEDIA IS THE WORST THING I SEE ESPECIALLY INDIA TV, STAR NEWS. EVERYTIME INDIA WINS THEY APPLAUD TEAM EVEN A 12TH MAN IS APPLAUDED APART FROM SACHIN, WHERE AS IF INDIA LOSES THEY BLAME SACHIN. WHY? THEY WERE JEALOUS OF SACHIN OR HATREAD OR SOMETHINGELSE. REALLY IT IS SHAMEFUL ON THE PART OF INDIA TV AND STARNEWS FOR THEIR BLOODY STANCE ON SACHIN. WHOM OF THE SENIORS IN INDIAN TEAM WERE NOT PERFORMING, EVEN DRAVID PERFORMED UNTIL RECENTLY, INDIA DHONI'S YUVRAJ'S ETC ETC WILL MAKE LOT OF RUNS, BUT ABROAD THEY WERE ZEROES. ONLY THESE THREE WITH LAXMAN AND KUMBLE PERFORMS. SO WHY MEDIA IS MAKING NONSENSE IN INDIA ESPECIALLY ABOUT BIG THREE SACHIN, SAURAV AND DRAVID.

WE SEEN MANY PLAYERS BEFORE PLAYING EXCELLENTLY IN DOMESTIC CRICKET SCORING TONS OF RUNS AND FAILING AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL. MEDIA ONLY MADE SELECTORS TO SELECT PRAVEEN KUMAR TO THE SIDE OTHERWISE WHAT HE HAS IN HIM, NEITHER SEAM NOR ANY SPECIALITY APART FROM TAKING NINE WICKETS IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. MEDIA CREATING LOT OF NONSENSE TO CRICKET WITH FOOLS LIKE SABA KAREEM, ASHISH SUKLA(FOOLEST OF ALL). I DONT KNOW SANDEEP PATIL HOW HE IS JOINING WITH THEM. ONLY FAIR PERSON IN PRESENT DAY WAS JAVGAL SRINATH WHO SAID VERY FRANKLY EVEN ABOUT PRAVEEN KUMAR, WITH THAT PACE HE CANT FIT INTO INTERNATIONAL CRICKET. HE IS RIGHTLY SAID. DOMESTIC PERFORMANCES DOESNT MAKE GOOD. PIYUSH CHAWLA WHO DID EXCELLENTLY AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL WAS LEFT OUT. HE IS KEY FOR AUSTRALIA AND SOUTH AFRICA TOURS AND I DONT KNOW WHAT SELEC

dont include Bose and Ishant Sharma. It was golden chance for them to prove themselves. Ishant went for too many runs for the opportunities he got in future cup against SA and in SA few months back just before T20 World Cup. Bose had injury issues. Everyone knows how difficult it is to make a comeback in Indian team after injury. Harbhajan had to wait for almost 7-8 months. It's responsibility of each n every player to remain fit knowing the amount of cricket played now-a-days.

Afer refusal from Sachin, I believe VVS Laxman is the right option to handover the Test captainship... Dhoni should be deputy for the coming 2 test series. Then Dhoni can take the load & we can hope a coach also will be with the team by that time...

That will help dhoni to take up this additional responsibility...

Guys post your views...

INDIA DOES NOT REQUIRE A COACH AS LONG AS SACHIN,ROBIN AND VENKY THERE. BOARD NEED NOT WORRY FOR COACH. IF THERE IS COACH THEN THESE PEOPLE WERE CONTROLLED BY HIM AND DIVISIONAL POLITICS LIKE WHAT CHAPPEL DID WILL COME. WE OBSERVED SACHIN OBSERVING EACH AND EVERYBATSMAN CLOSELY AND ADVISING THEM. WE SEE WHAT HE TOLD ABOUT UTHAPPA IN AUSTRALIA TOUR ABOUT HIM GETTING OUT AND THEN THE WAY UTHAPPA CAME BACK. WITH VENKY DOING EXCELLENT JOB AS BOWLING COACH WITH ROBIN AS USUAL EXCELLENT IN FIELDING, TO MY SURPRISE RAJPUTH TO DOING WELL. THIS COMBINATION SHOULD CONTINUE. NO HURRY FOR A FOREIN COACH LIKE CHAPPEL WHO ONLY SPOILS NOT HELPS.
