It was a dream start for our team, but the main problem is that we have got several times the same kind of start but have lost the game as we were not able to capitalize, let's hope that at this time our team will not repeat those mistakes.
Anyway, resting Sreesanth was not a wise decison as he can play a decisive role n caribean pitches.
Viru has to change hi mode of game that best suits him,,,,he needs to work in the net on the following, footwork to get close to the ball, cut out the close-to-body cutshots and a mode of 1st and top gear batting...also come out as a opener again, to try and hit over the top with only 2 men outside the inner circle
With the slow wickets in the carribean, good catching and close-in fielding will be critical weapons. Our old players are no longer nimble footed. Will Yuvraj, Kaarthick, and Uthappa be enough??

Ageing is a natural process it equally affects the cricketers and layman. You cant expect agility of 20 year at the ripe age of 33 or 34.Isnt it?

I agree, but could we think about getting a fielding coach like Jonty etc. to iron out those chinks and perhaps teach a few tricks. When I watch the Kiwis and the Proteas these days, it almost seems that they possess advanced fielding tactics that our team doesn't even know of!

Yoy will bring change by introducing latest technology on the field but how about attitutde towards fielding?
Telling you frankly, in india, batting and bowling are unduly hyped and revered, leaving little respect for fielding and good fielders unlike our foreign counterparts.

I agree, half of the guys in our team cant even bend down to field, let alone field with agility. This team needs a complete overhaul, but I really cant see any replacements. Good luck at the WC
No need to get complacent. Infact, its like a deja vu for me. Srilanka is only 3 wickets down not all out.Lets hope india carry on the good work for rest of the day and not throw in the towel at last moment.

The wicket is hard, there is some grass, and there are some early cracks around about the good length spot at one end. Basically, it should be decent for batting right through, but likely will slow down a touch as the game goes on. The grass is giving early movement, as much to do with dew and recent rains as the grass itself. What the cracks will do though is anyone's guess -- it could be benign, or alternately, a ball that hits it, as it opens up with the sun beating down on the pitch, could do magic.
