team selection...
by hum tum on Feb 14, 2007 10:43 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

selection not up to mark .....
few tips for selectors...
why kartik, wheather as a keeper or batsman, keep laxman more techinal sound as compare to kartik. u keep irfan, may be treated 75% batsman.

why mr failure (viru bhaiya) should be replace by mongia or kaif.

ok, what they select thay know better. can management ensure lack of performance in upcoming series may shown the players way of their home permanently.

Selection of Indian team
by bharat on Feb 14, 2007 10:41 AM  Permalink

i think for today's match all the players are well selected. this is the perfect team and should not be changed further till the end of world cup. giving chance to the players again and again put pressure in term of performance.

team not so ok
by Ashish Sharma on Feb 14, 2007 10:41 AM  Permalink

Team's Bowling Line is ok.But if we see it's Batting Line up it is lacking in Consistancy. Sehwag is not same as he was earlier.only sachin (sometimes),Dravid, ganguly are of international level.Dhoni can be handy.Utthappa is new for internationl standard.i think Lakshman is far better player than D.Kartik so he should be included in team.

Yes, as an ardent fan of Sehwag, I join you in wishing him a huge century today - which will benefit him as well as the team!

Hope so. Lets see what happens. But I feel he is very lucky. For the same reason (bad form), Ganguly was out. Anyway, I wish him all the best. I wish Team India all the best.

I can take a bet that Sehwag will NOT score more than 20 runs in today's match. That too he will have atleast ONE LIFE in that. How do u people imagine so wildly. Sehwag has gone out of form. Everyone has to accept the fact. Just do not go by past performances. If that is the case, you can select Kapil Dev, Robin Singh, Srikkanth, Kirti Azad, Brijesh Patel, etc.. they were also pinch hitters during those days. IF u ready to take a bet, I can clearly side with Robin Singh, Srikkanth and Kapil Dev that even today if they are selected they can play a shade better than sehwag. Any takers for my bet ??????? ???

Who Cares!!!
by Debo Mcnair on Feb 14, 2007 10:36 AM  Permalink

A game is important if losing or winning it has any consequence or significance. 90% of all matches played by India or in India has only one reason - fiil up coffers of certain private bodies. And the coffers do fill up even if India lose pathetically.

viru's slot has been wasted. he should hv been dropped a long time back. at least, let him not be there in the eleven.

Earlier I was also thinking like you but looking at present indian team makeup,I will surely bet for sehwag. Simply, because sehwag is a kind of risk which is worth taking and dravid has done one of the judicious thing by retaining him in the side in wake of coming world cup.

Because, If he gets going like afridi or chris gayle when the field restriction is on he can decimate any side in the world. On this fear psychosis of the bowler, I fully support inclusion of Viru in the indian cricket team. .

So who do you suggest as replacement? Certainly not Kaif or Raina who failed in South Africa (as Viru did). You also can't use a rookie unknown entity for the world cup

Your suggestion is really fantastic. Sehwag is a spent force. I suggest Krishnamachari Srikkanth or Robin Singh or Kapil Dev or Brijest Patel or Gavaskar or even Anshuman Gaekwad to take his place. Even at this age all of them can perform beter than sehwag

We need Kaif definitely. He is good batsman besides a very good feilder. saving even 10 - 15 runs in match makes lot difference and all have seen how kaif this job very smartly. uthapa & kartik can be replaced by kaif.
