i dont know y these people r playing like this.But they r playing for 100 crore people. So they hve to play with more courage. Bless them to be good next world cup.
For once let the captain and coach take the call on the team selection lets see how well they cope to the expectation of the selectors and perform with their own choice of eleven men . We have the South africa series coming up let them have it their way and produce results . If they are the best cricketing individuals it will reveal otherwise its better to follow the footsteps of the selection committee .However its very easy to complain/advice but when it comes to reality people need to introspec what they are capable of .
First of all improve pitches. we have yet to win a test match in south africa where we are ging in a few days time.then the domestic cricket system.there should not be more than 10 teams in domestic cricket.dont go by big names and past records while selecting indian team.star player tag has to be removed from indian system. Present form should be the criteria.fitness levels of some of the indian players are pathetic. sehwaag is worst. dont go overboard with 1 or 2 wins. media has to play a constructive role dont follow cricketers to their bathrooms!!give them only that adulation that they deserve. remember we have not won anything major except 1983 world cup.indian cricet team is professional and they are being heavily paid for their work so they themselves have to realise their responsibilities.it is they who have to perform in the middle we can only wish!!!
Undoubtedly we need better captain who have guts to reply back and who can talk with strong teams with eye-eye contact. Unfortunately Rahul is a great cricketer but not a standard captain. In cricket, captain can play a more import role on the filed than coach or other supporting staffs. Some time to make changes in the planned strategy, captain has to take strong & quick decisions on the field, but even on that moment Rahul love to follow the lessons of cricket grammatical books. What Ganguly did at LORDS to reply back to Flintoff, it was history and no one can expect it from Rahul. To become world champion India need that kind of passion from the captain. At the time of Ganguly, India atlaest reach upto Final. We won Pakistan series at Pakisthan, bt WI at WI, bt Aus in Aus. Even when selectors were thinking to eliminate Rahul from ODI team, Ganguly fought for Rahuls' palce. Bcoz Ganguly realized the importance of Rahul as a cricketer. Ganguly never encourage regional based team selection procedures. These made Ganguly most successful captain of India and one of the best captains in this world.
FINALY WE WANT TEAM INDIA, NOT TEAM CHAPPEL. This may not be possible under Rahul.
I think its a three step process: step1-Selection board and Cricket board to be non biased and non political.Selection on Merit,Current form irrespective of region he belongs to or number of years of experience.
Step2 - Create pitches which are bowler friendly with bounce and pace.
Step 3 - Contract/positions in a team to be awarded on performance,do performance appraisal every game like how you do appraisals at work.
Well looking at the present scenerio, the call-of-the-day would be a team composition. To add to that, do we really need a coach,or so to be called a coach? BCCI is rich no doubt, but spending a such a huge amount in coach,I don't see any smartness. Besides, Rahul may be the best batsman in the present team but he not an innovative batsman,infact his personality is too premeditated. So captaincy really a blunder.In my scheme of things the team would be as the following, in order: Sachin, Saurav, Sehwag, Yuvi/Kaif, Dravid, Patan, Dhoni, Agarkar, Harbhajan, Kumble/Zaheer and Patel.
