sachin sucks !!!!!!!!!!
by cameo norman on Nov 26, 2006 05:49 PM  Permalink

well guys..just to add litte fuel to ur thoughts..well..im not only a fan of lara but a compulsive believer that sachin tendulkar is vvv over rated...well i know india is crazy bout him ..his technique n blah blah blah...but how many times has he played a match winning knock under pressure n pulled out a ripper to get u indianns out of trouble..i hail from england n i hav watched quite a lot his matches .. n beleive me.. he is stylish n talented but wen it comes to big matches.. he is a school boy..hahahahaha..did u indians watch how he plays quality bowlers like mcgrath n pollock n bond...like his balls got stuck in his stomach(no offence)..without any doubt lara is better than sachin any time any day...he doesnt fear any bowler..thats y he performs under pressure..sorry u sachin fans but u hav to live with the fact..

we need to know how many times won the matches or saved from defeat whenever tendulkar hit test century. Any way Lara looks to be superior criketer.

This article is totally incomplete without Ponting's being added to the list
by Asher on Nov 24, 2006 04:00 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Compare these guys to Ponting. He has 32 centuries, and has only played 106 matches (over 30 matches less than the other two) and having at least another 5-8 years of cricket left in him is sure to SMASH any record that either Lara or Tendulkar has or will make, except probably Lara's world record highest score of 400*.

Totally agree with You Asher!
by Riturajj on Nov 24, 2006 07:48 PM  Permalink
Yes Asher, PONTING is the Best batsman who is currently Playing Cricket. Be it One Dayers or Tests, PONTING has been a better performer than these three. Remember, Gavaskar was one of the Worst One Day Batsman. His One Day Record is abysmal. Sachin's One Day record is far more outstanding than his Test Record. Lara's form is Ripening with his age and His Test records speak for him. But, with age on Ponting's Side, It would not be suprising if he Goes to break all One Day and Test Records (barring Lara's Magical 400). Sachin, is out of form and has no motivation left in him. He thinks he is the GOD of Cricket and does not need any Practice. His Shortcomings are now known to the world and is a sitting duck for the likes of McGrath, Lee and Co... Plus Sachin has got all that he could have ever dreamt of and hence is not motivated anymore. On the Contrary Ponting, like Lara, is Hungry for More and More and this is what makes him the Most likely Contender to be the Best Batsman ever to have played after Sir DON.

hey ritu,

good that u agree for lara being the best and rick pointing also being the best, but saying that sachin feels like GOD is something which he never felt like, its people like u who praise lara and pointing who make them feel like GOD. Sachin is single player in this world who has never shown his ugly side on the field. HE is the most remarkable gentleman in the world of cricket. when he was playing at his best no other batsmen could catch him,if u find sachin not motivated its not because he does not want to play but because he is trying to overcome his injuries which he forgot to care because of his love towards cricket. And the day is not far when critics like u will agree that Sachin is GOD. but trust me he never felt like GOD, he is still the same 16 year old kid at heart and a gentlman.

Thanks for giving me the opprtunity to talk about sachin.

if u pick up sachins average its still better than any other batsman.

statistics are funny...
by kunal savarkar on Nov 22, 2006 02:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

...they don't really mean much. what is the rational for splitting up their careers into 25 test periods? not defending Tendulkar (i think he is a bit over rated- at the cost of somebody like dravid); but because lara has scored 216 does not mean Tendulkar is a lesser player.like i said stats are funny business. i am a lover of cricket statistics- i devour my copy of wisden- but never will i make the mistake of judging cricketers on their figures.

Yes you are absolutely right. Dravid has never been given the credit he deserves. He has a better average than all the three "Great" players in question and yet he does not figure here. In fact my top three present test players will be Ponting, Dravid and Lara, in that order. Sachin was great-Not anymore...He may redeem himself by retiring but playing anymore is only going to bring down his average and take a little more shine off his already fading career.

agreed, Tendulkar is not at his peak for the past few years but between 1990 and 2000, that man was a treat to watch and has championed many victories ( we should not have a short memory). Lara and Tendulkar are almost equals and I would not put either ahead. If Lara has an aptitude for making large hundreds, Tendulkar has been a prolific centurey maker in both forms - 75 hundreds is no joke. Ultimately cricket is not about individuals - atleast a few of the 11 have to perform on any given day. Australia keeps winning not because Ponting is a prolific scorer - but he has others to support him. India and the West Indies teams have let down teh efforst of their two masters on numerous occasions. On the other hand, it is also true that both of them have let down their teams at times, revelaing their human fraility.

My friend ,
If you go through the career of Sachin starting from 1989 onwards, you will find that Sachin helped India to win only 2 odi's against Australia at Sharjah. Other than that Sachin scored many test and odi tons but India always ended in the loosing side. For your kind information I am putting up an example. Sachin scored 165 against Pakistan at Chennai in 1999 but India failed to score 17 odd runs with 5 wickets in hand. Within a short period Lara single handedly won the game for WI with batsman like Walsh against Australia. So both of them are champions. Sachin's devotion towards rhe game is fantastic while Lara's talent is extraordinary.

Lara is truly GR8
by TOM on Nov 22, 2006 02:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This shows that Lara is truly the greatest batsman, cricket has ever produced and Tendulkar is just being hyped by the media. He is on the decline...he should be dropped from the team immediately.

I think, you have little knowledge of Cricket. Its better not to comment about the great Cricketer like Tendulkar, if you dont understand the power and technique of Tendulkar and be quiet.

My advice to you, never comment in future.

BRAVO BC LARA
by SM Riaz Khan on Nov 22, 2006 01:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

These statistics only reinforces my belief that Lara is the undisputed superstar of Test Cricket.

It might had been nice, if you had given the value of his centuries such as how many of his centuries contributed to WI victory & how many saved WI from defeat.

Indian media - cannot, for long, hide his authority over the game & his superiority over other test playing batsmen, by praising the home-grown cricketers.
