yes it was. If you don\\\'t perform, you go back. Look at the Australians perform, each and every player does his part
But, Sehwag should\\\'ve sent long back and much before Irfan. In all likelihood, politics must be playing a part here or he has a godfather somewhere with a lot of influence
pathan deserves a chance. on african pitches he could have given results rather than playing on slow indian pitches. this would have given him a chance to perform on favourable pitches before wold cup . and don`t forget he would be our key player in the word cup
I fully support BCCI's initiative of bringing Irfan Pathan back ... but sometimes think whether the rule is being applied uniformly ! This is a smack on the face of Chappel ... apart from the failure of his strategy of youth for experience , it is now clear that his coaching tactics are also not good ... examples are Sehwag, Jaffer, Pathan and to some extent Dhoni ... they are all performing under par ... they are not getting the guidance they require ... Sachin, Dravid are also not among the runs ... those with the team and Chappel for long are now out of form ... only Zaheer, Laxman, Kimble and Sourav who were not part of the team are now performing ... that proves all ... I think Chappel should be 1st got rid of ... if he can't teach Irfan Pathan, Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag .. he has no right to be the coach of Indian Team ... he should be sacked ... only becos of him our trusted players are now suffering from lack of confidence ... nothing else ... remove Chappel and you will see that all these guys will perform as they were doing months ago ... may be then the "YES SIR" Dravids and Sreesanths will not be able to perform ...
Yes, certainly it was right to send Irfan Pathan back, because of a lack of form. But, by the same logic, it would be even more fitting if other Verender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar are also sent back by the same flight, as they, too, are equaly out of form.
It is the step dominating his confidence to sent back home whereas the other teammates of him who were not played well for a long time they are still palying while he had shown a good game by his batting in some last innings so I think its not good step to make some difference. There should be one step to throw some whose really deserve for it,whether the selectors can dare ??
I think the BCCI has taken the best decision looking into the current scenario of the Indian Cricket team. its a big eye opener to the current players out of form. If Pathan is a true fighter he should take it heartily and come out n prove his critics wrong in the domestic cricket scene. If he is down he will do himself more harm than good. All the best to Irfan Pathan.
The best team in the world, Australia, has done this quite regularly, so don't think the BCCI is doing the wrong thing. Couple of recent examples in Australia include Nathan Bracken, Bruce Lee, Stuart Magill, Shaun Tait, Shane Watson, Mitchell Jonston, just to name a few.
With all of them it has done a world of good. I defy you to challenge me if you think these are not world-class bowlers today. Pulling players up short for not performing gets them to cool their heels, reflect, take time and assess themselves and their future in the game and then wisen up and come back even better.
Irfan is an amazing bowler and batsman. He needs to delve deep inside inside himself to find answers to his problems. He is young and has lots of time to again rediscover his talent. Please give him time and space.
The BCCI is being professional about it. This is the nature of things in the modern era.
pathan wasnt even bowling that bad, infact he was far better than VRV singh. And moreover he gave us a batting option as well, he scored 111* and 40* in the 4 day test where all our so called specialist batsmen failed.
Leave apart his bowling, he should be there in team for his batting as per his current form on the tour.
In my view it was not right to send back pathan, since pathan would not be bowling the way he used to, but his prence would have contributed to the stability in middle order, with his all round ability, if the management would have to call back the player then the axe should have fallen on wasim Jaffer, since the test cricket does not involves only defensive tactics, it is the game where you score fluently and put back the pressure on the opponent. Herewhere jaffer is slow in in innings, instead of that Gautham Gambhir would have been preferered and jaffer should have been called back.
