The best team in the world, Australia, has done this quite regularly, so don't think the BCCI is doing the wrong thing. Couple of recent examples in Australia include Nathan Bracken, Bruce Lee, Stuart Magill, Shaun Tait, Shane Watson, Mitchell Jonston, just to name a few.

With all of them it has done a world of good. I defy you to challenge me if you think these are not world-class bowlers today. Pulling players up short for not performing gets them to cool their heels, reflect, take time and assess themselves and their future in the game and then wisen up and come back even better.

Irfan is an amazing bowler and batsman. He needs to delve deep inside inside himself to find answers to his problems. He is young and has lots of time to again rediscover his talent.
Please give him time and space.

The BCCI is being professional about it. This is the nature of things in the modern era.

Was it right to send Irfan back?
