I have a mixed feeling on this issue. There is no doubt that it is a very bold step sending Pathan back. But what about Virendar Sewag ? Is not it look like a case of victimisation ? The principle adopted to be common for all players. So in one way it sends message to all team members that if u dont perform then ur fate will be like Pathan but in other way it sends message it is not applicable to all non-performers. By the way what happened to Dravid ? Is he scared abot the grand comeback of our hero Sourav ?
i would like to say about irfan khan back this is not expected decision taken by selectors. Irfan is a keen player as far as bowling department of indian team. in my openion he has not given fair chances to prove himself on the pitches like in south africa. Although he is a geniun all rounder, he has ability to bowled as well as bat.
currently in the corporate world too people get sacked for not performing even if he has performed well earlier. its time when we implement the same in our cricket team too. this is a perfect precidence that is set. actually speaking there is nothing wrong in sending the non performers back, and if people feel that by doing this it harms the individual\'s moral, then that individual is not supposed to represent any team at all, as this should be his learning curve. it should make him change his cactics, he has to come out of the shell and think properly on what is going wrong. this should not be done only for players like irfan, but i feel it should be done for the entire team. sehwag (why is he still there in the team), give him a break. suceess has gone into their nerves and has climbed their head and they think they are invincible. guys please change this thinking. get this message thru to the entire team \"PERFORM OR GET LOST\" there are many people outside who will outperform if given an opportunity and we have an example, SREESANTH
This is not fair in context of player's point of view. The player may lose his moral and confidence. The current few events in the indian selection board and the management panel were very 'mysterious'.
There was a time, when the soe of the players (who are now sitting as the authorities and the god-fathers) like Sunil, Ravi, dilip.... were the slowest players (specially Ravi... totally failed player. more he was a modal then a player). Ravi was not liked by most of the persons as a player. Rignt now in the current tour, these three (s, r & d) are just critising the players (wo keval baal ki khaal nikal rahein hein). And as a result of their critism, some of the players have to suffer.... 'Pathan' is one of the victm.
It is nonsense to hear that you are sending a player in the middle of the tour selection committee should not have selected for the tests I think even the selectors are also out of form :(
I cannot understand why the hell sehwag is in the team. He should be the first one to go. If sehwag is not dropped and sent back now he will be a much bigger failure in WC. The selectors are doing the same mistake what they did with Ganguly , they did not drop him when he was out of form but dropped him when he was in a little bit of form.
Definitely it will dishearten his confidence level. Though he was shining with his batting ability he should have given chance for some more times to prove his ability in the bowling area. My personal opinion is, it's 10 times better to have Irfan instead of having Shewag in the team. By doing this the team management has given him a chance as a part time bowler to prove his ability. By doing this atleast we could have one more bowler cum batsman to strengthen our team. Let us pray for his return as early as possible.
Damn it it is the 2nd right decision made by Vengsarker, first being the inclsion of Ganguly. This Chappele/Dravid combination is taking Indian cricker in doom. Chappele shall be sent back to Australia too right from south Africa.
