Ganguly's inculsion- a spineless decision.
by Varun on Dec 25, 2005 10:24 AM  Permalink

Dear all,
I was happy to see Ganguly in the Sqad but was deeply shocked the way he was inducted in.
I am happy now with Ganguly in as I am ardent fan of Ganguly. But imagine Ganguly meets Pawar, have 'general cricketing discussion' and merits place in sqad!!
Well, some may say, I am reading too much in-between-the lines.Today Pawar says Ganguly is perfect team man! Few months back(few weeks rather) he was 'not a team man' as describe by his very close associates.
I dont know what to say but one thing I can say with certainty.BCCI and all cricketers are spineless! They neither had guts to say the truth earlier nor they will ever have it in future. They can never take decision un-biasedly or with grit.Dont be surprised if 'Siddhu' realises tomorrow that he has enough cricket left in him and raises the issue in parliament about his selection. He may even be inculded for 'cricketing' reasons.
And we as a spectators will keep on guessing on whats going on??
Thats the way our country runs and so how cricket could be different.
Lastly, aren't we spineless for that matter?? Do we have guts to shun the cricket for a while in backyard to let the 'dirt' die on its own??.Sorry,we can't.Atleast I can't.
As a 'stupid' & 'spineless' cricket crazy, I will spend hrs to watch the match, days to discuss it, yrs to think on it, and probably die one day with 'shattered score cards' and 'records'.
And the show of BCCI and cricketers will go on.If I die, there are 10 others like me already in making ready to 'die'.
Crazy, isen't it??

He was, is and will always be a selfish man. Team Man? Noooo
by lgaur on Dec 25, 2005 01:03 AM  Permalink

It was all Ganguly's doing, really. He began this whole saga with his infamous press meet when he brought up Chapples name. It was deplorable, selfish and purely gloating at his rare good score in a long time.

Now also he has not done anything dignified or deserving by creating polical pressure to be on the team. He is one of those selfish cricketers who will and can only think about themselves.

Sourav Ganguly
by Alok Govil on Dec 24, 2005 11:44 PM  Permalink

A politician at the head of BCCI has started playing politics with the team. Sourav Ganguly is past his prime. He may have been the most successful Indian Captain but he has not been selected as the captain but as a batsman. How good a batsman is he or has been is contentious. The politics of the Communist parties who have no base except west bengal and coalition pressures on Sharad Pawar which are playing havoc with team selection. Why did Sachin Tendulkar advocating Sourav's selection? Does he see what is store for him in the not so distant future

Absolutely
by Utpal Biyani on Dec 24, 2005 10:12 PM  Permalink

I think his inclusion definately has the backing of Mr. Sharad Pawar. But no one can deny that he has done what no other captain has done for India and he definately deserves a long run in the team.

His performance in the Ranji games was good and dropping him from the 3rd test was camplete nonsense.

He would definately be one the players to look out for in the World Cup. We do not have a better captain than him.

I am sure him inclusion must have made more people happy than it would have not !

Go Ganguly !!

Politicians are chameleons
by milindgade on Dec 24, 2005 09:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The sudden appreciation of Saurav Ganguly's talent & achievements by Sharad Pawar and his return to India team is nothing short a suspense novel. The characters involved are politicians from west Bengal who have put pressure on congress government to include Saurav for reasons other than cricketing abilities. Mr. Sharad Pawar & BCCI has set a precedence by including Ganguly by succumbing to antics of Bengali politicians and people. SO in future we should expect people from different zones resorting to strikes and road blocks to include the players from their respective zone. People of Uttar Pradesh should now also start behaving like the so called "passionate" Bengalis and get Mohammad Kaif included in the test team. I have suggestion to BCCI to do away with the selectors and instead ask the people of India to vote their players by SMS since the current selection of individuals like Ganguly is without the selctors & coach's consent. Why not make it a farce which people atleast understand rather than enduring the comedy show and comments from selectors/BCCI after every selection process.

See actually his exclusion from the team was politically and racially motivated not his inclusion. what sewag and tendulkar did in last few games. was it a nice performance? then why they are not excluded? question yourself what type of politically and ratially motivated things happened earlier in indian cricket and then also bengalees do the same thing what they are doing today. but they were not racially motivated. when kapildev was sidelined by selectors and Gavaskar was made captain( after kapildev gave India the world cup), then who protested? you? or bengalees? after utpal chatterjee performed well he was excluded from the team. after arunlal did 93 and something around 50 in two innings against West Indies he was excluded. what was the reason? only they were a player from east zone. So, please check the history and then speak against the most successful captain. You racial idiots.

Chappell wants to get rid of Ganguly, Zaheer, Harbhajan, Sehwag. He says that they have attitude and other problems. But Chappell making obscene gestures with his finger to Kolkata crowds does not have attitude problem!!!
I say " Throw this arrogant obscene Aussie Chappell out. He is an uncivilised conniving vengeful fellow and he belongs in Australia - the country where all convicts from England were banished."

Pawar's remark on Ganguly

Thank you Sharadji, I lost all respect and faith to Indian cricket & cricketers, from your comment it appears that still there are a few gentlemen in this so-called gentleman's game.

It is amazing to see that people are still denying the fact that DADA was instrumental in bringing up the base of todays team Chappel which was team India some days back, Thanks to Mr pawar justice has been done & the man has been duely given his share of respect atleast by prooving the infamous Email as lousy, personaly targeted one.that dada is no longer a player of class or whatever can be always debated but Chappel & many out of the public was falsely targeting ganguly as a nonteam man etc etc . As expressed by dada in a bengali Newspaper ' I am more happy that the dirt has been wiped from my name, wheather i get to play was secondary in comparision to the pain I suffered by being labelled as a non team man who was playing politics. Indeed rightly someone had said that Chappel knew with his shrewd UNDERARM brain that to get rid of Ganguly the player he had to wipe out first Ganguly the legend.THANK YOU Mr PAWAR you have placed Ganguly in his right place, dont make him play if he is not good enough but atleast give the man his due respect. Politicization of Cricket
by G.Behera on Dec 24, 2005 07:16 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

Inclusion or deletion of Mr. Ganguly from Indian Cricket team does not matter at all. Keeping in view of the result achieved by the energetic team in the recent matches against Sri-Lanka has proved no difference whether he is in the team or not. Selector's decission was a very good decision which provided to give chance to new ceicketers to display their ability to be future of the team. Politicisation of cricket is not at all fair on parts of MPs in the parliament to waste thair time and money over a personal interest of a player like Ganguly. Performancewise if it is analysed , since world cup , it was not found satisfactory result from Ganguly in all fields like batting , bowling, feilding ( chasing the balls ) etc. He should be given rest from the cricket and new cricketers must be given chance like one Mr. S.Ramesh who has been kept in obscure.

Behera.
