coach for indian team
by ajay dhodapkar on Apr 21, 2005 08:48 PM  Permalink

First of all selectors should understand what exactly coach means. i feel we need a mentor who can guide this bunch of people.can realy a coach can make drastic change No. We need team of coches at different level who in together bring coolectively a player at the helm by contineous process a player has to come from a scool and slowly he is graduated and last but not least to Univasity leval. Develope a paradigme were a plaver is evolved and then only he will give his 100%. Look at australian team they may not have sachi or ganguly or shewag but they have players who will alwas contribute towards end result that is WIN.Every player is ready to take challanges when it comes to their chance if they are 5 down for 100 the remainig 4 wiil suppot the main bats man who takes complete responsibility. and bowlers take addtional rseposibillity. and thus they over come hurdle.
So its high time we shoul go to grass root leval of understanding the importance of team as one unit.
A coach can only do is suport the player in honing and making stratigies to go about in match. So it does not matter wether he is aindian or not but he should be able use CHANYKA NITI

So what if Patil wants to be coach?
by Arindam Banerjee on Apr 21, 2005 08:15 PM  Permalink

Check out the first line. Wadekar bashes the board coz he says " Patil aspires to be the coach". Hey man, I wanna be the coach too, will the board entertain my request as well? It's not what one wants to be that counts, it's whether or nothe can do justice to the post. And even if you have been successful at the India A leve, that's absolutely no guarantee that he'll succeed at the top level either

Foreign Coaches Are Better:
by Sundar on Apr 21, 2005 08:04 PM  Permalink

Wright is the best coach, India has ever had. People like Kapil,Gavaskar are great players but not necessarily a good coach. Coaching a team needs a professional approach to the game, which is lacking in the former players.
Those peoples are only good in criticising.

no bias
by sandeep kurian on Apr 21, 2005 06:18 PM  Permalink

Let me tell you ...It's sad but only a foreign coach can look across boundries of language and cultures to find real talent ...(oops sorry ,that job is entrusted to the selectors ......) The ideal situation would be to give the onus to the coach himself to select the team from a pool of players selected by the selectors. Then, as in football ,the couch should be given the powers to reprimand players and shall be held responsibe if he doesn't do his homework well . This level of authority delegation cannot happen if an Indian holds the position due to several innate reasons -those which everyone are aware of ,yet prefer to believe there is nothing as such ....

Re :Foreign coaches: Part 1
by King on Apr 21, 2005 04:00 PM  Permalink

lol.

look at that venkat, who gets green in the face out of envy if a north indian gets the job.
Such people call themselves Indians! How jealous he is!!! How unhappy he must be always.
lol.
Mistrust, scared, insecure, inequality.
lol.
Similarly for someone like Manjrekar and Shastri who lick Tendulkar's feet because they are from
Maharashtra too, remember the commentary in the recent Indo-pak series, whenever Sehwag hit a
good shot, he was like oh ok good shot and when Tendulkar hit a similar shot he was fallin over
his little self in order to praise tendulkar and lick his feet with praise.
He said Tendular should bowl more and even went to the extent of saying that he should be kept in
position where he can take more catches!!!!! and then he realized how obvious he was, then he
added, for India!!!!!! To this Rameez Raja who was the commentator too, said sarcastically tongue
and cheek, slamming Manjrekar, that where? Sachin should be kept as wicket-keeper? or in Slip?
lol.
Good one Rameez.

Foreign Coach
by Ramesh S on Apr 21, 2005 02:32 PM  Permalink

I think Wadekar needs to check the history books. Sandeep Patil and Kapil Dev were miserable failures as India coach.
All this talk about a foregin coach having language/cultural problems is hogwash. John Wright was coach for 5 years. He did a great job didn't he?
India needs a tough professional like Grep Chappell as coach.
People like Wadekar & Bedi know only to issue meaningless statements. Bedi is not even qualified to talk about coaching. He is the guy who wanted to end all his problems by throwing the team into the ocean !!
So Bedi/Wadekar and the rest..Let the board and the team choose the right person.

Regards.
Ramesh
