Indian social structure unique
by kapil Yadav on Sep 30, 2007 09:47 AM

Dear friends,
some of our friends have raised very valid points opposing reservation policy of our country but in fact those point actually pertain to faulty implementation of reservation policy.
1. Even after 50 yrs reservation has not made much of difference largely because gross under implementation, less then 5-10% as per govt. own record.
2. Reservation is no alternative to quality universal education but in absence of latter doing away with former is absurd.
3. Concept of creamy layer is valid but not when more then 50% of seats meant for reserved category are going vaccant.
4. Merit is ability plus opportunity with opportunity definitely playing a bigger role. And anyway Indian society is not merit based, its a myth propagated by so called elites of society, does merit means a thing to around 30% of our population that lives below poverty line or 70% population that lives in village without any access to decent schools.
5. Some of us are concerned about jobs we lost, but think about those who never even knew of these jobs, never even dreamt about these. The major reason for rift over reservation is lack of sufficient jobs for everyone and reluctance of those more fortunate to share it with disadvantaged.

India society is unique in world, as everywhere the majority has historically discriminated with the minorities, but here a elite of 5-10% have not only subjugated the rest 90% but have forced a large proportion to live in outright inhuman conditions. This impossible
