I would also add that even though I donot follow these talent competitions/ reality shows on TV much, I feel the fact that the finalists of Indian Idol being from strife torn areas of East should be a reason enough for us to celebrate a sort of socio-cultural coming-of-age of the NE integration into Indian mainstream. I hope this event, even widely criticised as a commercial stunt, should remove pre-concieved notions about our brethren from far eastern states and help them gain much-deserved dignity and respect in the hearts of other Indians.
