I have no words to express my gratitude to this great singer whose songs have always proved a nectar in anybody's dull and dry moments in life. Thank you Rafi Saab. We can never forget you. Long love your memory. You are GREAT.
I remember one song of Mohmd Rafi though i cant remember which movie it is from . the wording goes like "Jaane kya dhoondti rehti hai yeh Ankhein mujhmain rakh ke dher main shola hai na chingari hai. " do let me know if possible which movie it is from . There never has been nor will ever be another singer like rafi.
Rafisaab is a legend, and legend never dies. he is with us, his melodies still haunt me. my favorite number is undeliably - chalo ek baar phirse ajnabee ban jaaye hum dono. the variations he's used is something very difficult for today's singers who rely on the music. in this song, he recites a line, and suddenly sings again with a high-pitch, which has a big impact each time i listen to it. hats off to Rafisaab.

Hey Sahil.....the song Chalo Ek baar Phirse has been sung by Mahender Kapoor who co-incedntally is a Rafi fan and who treated Rafi Saab as his guru.... And I don't think there will be anyone like Rafisaab in the near future.....

Please don't irritate any profound Rafi-fan by those comments. The song you mentioned as your favourite (Chalo ek baar)is actually sung by Mahendra Kapoor. He in fact learned singing under Rafisaab's tuteledge and had resemblance in vocal tenor (albeit little nasal) with Rafi saab. That sonorous diction ( particularly in romantic songs, ghazals and pathos-laden songs) can only be found in Rafi saab's voice which haunts a listner long after a song is heard. He was a sheer magic in S D Burman, Madan Mohan, Naushad and O P Nayyar's compositions.
His voice transcended all boundaries, his notes struck a chord in the hearts of millions and his humility disarmed his rivals, such was the calibre of the inmitable Rafi Sahab. You could listen his songs in times of pain, in times of joy, in times of mischief and in times of love. He had the voice for any situation and expression for every emotion. Rafi Sahab left more than two decades ago but his legacy, his melody still lingers in the heart of every music lover and will continue to do so till the end of life itself.
I am a great fan of Mr. Rafi. He was a legend. No body on earth can ever step in to his shoes. When ever I am depressed, I will be listening to Rafi's oldies. It is so soothing to my mind.I personally miss him a lot. Hope he will reborn to sing for all of us all over again!
A song from film Hakikat (old) Mai yeh sochkar Uske Dar Se Utha Tha ... is one of the greatest song ever sung by Rafi. Also Man Tarpat Hari Darshan ko ... from Baiju Bawra is another great.
Sukh ke sab saathi.. dukh mei na koi.. mere raam.. This song on lord Rama was written by a muslim, music done by a muslim, enacted on screen by a muslim, and finally sung by a muslim.. whatta gr8 thing. Music has no caste, creed religion barriers... and iam sure no one else than the gr8 Rafi could have rendered the song at all, let alone sing to perfection. It is my all time favorite songs till date.. and going by the trend.. im sure it will remain... IN OTHER WORDS... RAFI SAAB WAS INVITED BY THE ALMIGHTY HIMSELF TO ENTHRALL HIM WITH HAMARA RAFI SAAB's MELLIFLUOUS VOICE... QUODOS
rafi saab was a great singer. may be he was incarnation of tansen. songs sung by him in baiju bawara made him immortal. i cried a lot on this death though that time i was in school but i am still a great fan of him. nobody can take his place. he was really a god of music and great living legend. i like all his songs. it is very difficult to say which is my favourite rafi's song.
