The Heart and Soul of Hindi Film Music
by Stanly Mathew on Jul 31, 2006 01:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

He had a voice that make us feel the exact mood of the song. When he cries we also cried. He was the best, is the best and will be the best in all the years to come.
My favourite song of Rafi Sahb is "Suhani raat dhal jhuki na jaane tum kab aaoge ".

Dear Friend,

Rafisaab is the best singer that Bollywood ever had! He is inimitable and uncomparable. None of the present day singers have that melodious a voice or are that talented. But please do not call them copycats. Sonu Nigam has always said that he is an ardent fan of Rafisaab. He is also one of the few good singers we have today, otherwise the Kumar Sanus & Himesh Reshammiyaas of this world have already corrupted our taste in music by their nasal voices..

Itna na mujhse tu pyar badha was sung by Talat Mahmood, not Rafi Saab.

Tribute of Mohd.Rafi
by san on Jul 31, 2006 01:32 PM  Permalink

Yes, its true that Rafi Sahib is no more with us. But did he ever leave us?? His melodious voice refuses to die. Fortunately, even todays young generation also has emberaced him. The songs sung by him even 50 years before remain as crisp as they have been written and sung today.

Rafi Sahib may have left this world but he will always remain with us.

tribute to rafisaab
by APN SHARMA on Jul 31, 2006 01:30 PM  Permalink

Rafisaab is an outstanding example to show that MUSIC is above any caste or creed and the way he used to sing a bhajan or a gazal or a patriotic song would melt anyone. I feel, he was alive today and presented himself among the masses, even the hardcore terrorists would have reformed into responsible citizens. Music has such a power and in the present times only Rafisaab would have done it.

Rafisaab was the King of all Playbacks
by Darakhsha on Jul 31, 2006 01:29 PM  Permalink

There has never been a singer like Rafi and there will never be one.Rafisaab is well-known not just as an artiste but also for his humanity and generosity. Not a single stain mars his entire career. The remix guys do not work on Rafisaabs songs becoz the song looks best as originals due to Rafisaabs creativity. Average compositions became Good songs,Good songs were elevated as Hits and Hit songs became immortal because of Rafisaabs renderation. This uncrowned king of melody has sung for everybody from Raj Kapoor to Raj Babbar and from Raj Kumar to Raj Kiran to Govinda.Rafi was known for his camaraderie with his co-singers. The spirit of one-upmanship was absent in him.He never asked what he was going to be paid for a particular song.It was characteristic of his generosity that he sang Chanda ka dil toot gaya hai rone lage hai sitare for Nissar Kaazmi for the film Khoj for just Re 1.Sometimes he did not accept even that much.Even now,Sonu Nigam and Udit Narayan who have always followed the Rafi school of singing rule the roost which proves Rafisaabs mantle. The legend of Rafisaab would always prevail as it still continues to do so after more than 26 years of his passing away.
