Rafisaheb ko mera salam
by Prakash Gangal on Jul 31, 2006 04:40 PM  Permalink

He made our generation live with his musical melodies. Its sheer nostalgic memories. A versatile singer, a gentleman to the core. My most favourite song of Late Shri Rafisaheb is "Rang aur Noor ki baraat kise pesh karoon". Long live Late Rafisaheb, long live his musical memories.

Moh Rafi
by Saif Hasan on Jul 31, 2006 04:37 PM  Permalink

Without any sense of nostalgia, I think any one with a minimum ear for good music will say that Mohd. Rafi was the BEST. Kishore was a close second. My top 10 Rafi numbers are:

1. Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar (Hum Dono)
2. Tumne Mujhe Dekha (Teesri Manzil)
3. Jinhe Naaz Hai Hind Pe (Pyaasa)
4. Jaane Kya Dhoondhti Rehti Hain (Shola Aur Shabnam)
5. Tere Mere Sapne Ab Ek Rang (Guide)
6. Chal Ud Ja Re Panchi (Bhabhi)
7. Jab Jab Bahar Aaye (Taqdeer)
8. Mann Tadpat Hari Darshan Ko Aaj (Baiju Bawra)
9. Nain Lad Jayein Hain (Gunga Jamuna)
10. Main Jat Yamkla Pagla Deewana (Pratigya)

What range! What versatality!

My favorite Rafi number
by Sitara Sistla on Jul 31, 2006 04:31 PM  Permalink

My favorite Rafi number is Dil Ka Bhanwar Kare Pukar Pyaar Ka Raag Suno...

Rafi saaheb to me is the epitome of the Indian romantic with a heart of gold with a voice that could convey a thousand emotions but the romance best. I am yet to find someone who could convey the romance in a person so beautifully and so gently. If Kishore Kumar's voice could convey melancholy to perfection, Rafi saaheb could do the same for romance.

The eternal Rafi
by hari kumar on Jul 31, 2006 04:05 PM  Permalink

The unique and golden voice of this great singer has given indian film music a new identity - distinct from the nasal singing of his predecessors.
The variation he brought about was distinct- be it 'chahoonga mein tujhe' , suhani raat dhal chuki , chahe koi mujhe junglee kahee , aja aja... or mein ne poocha chand se.
Rafi saab
(tum) to chale pardes , ---- purdesi ho gaye

but we want you to make - Sau baar janam lenge - a reality - and - hum intezar karenge -
because you are - jo bhi ho tum khuda ki kasam , la jawab ho -
