remembering Rafisahab
by Vaibhav Khandekar on Aug 01, 2006 02:01 PM  Permalink

He was a Gem. He used to sing marathi baktigeet from his heart. After listening it, nobody could guess that he is non-marathi and muslim. Today's singers can give only one or two hit songs that too short lived. He has given so many hit, so many variety songs. I salute this man. May his sole rest in peace.

legend
by Major jitendra singh shekhawat on Aug 01, 2006 01:58 PM  Permalink

Rafi sahab is a legend.
I remember during war like scenario at forward areas when I was there I use to hum his songs " ****** sathiyon ab tumhare havaley watan sathiyon **** "
He was with me his voice was with me, enough to motivate and to carry my friends and colleagues together.
There is only one place where I can see him is SWARAG.
"Those who are loved by GOD are called earlier".
TU NAHIN RAFI TO KYA TERI AWAAZ TO BAKI HAI.

Major J S Shekhawat.

Rafi Saab, I should say would ever be remembered for wonderful patho's songs which he rendered,
For all the sad souls, he would have at some part of time been the best companion.. I have often felt that... with Bikhar gayi sapne.....and aapke pehlu me aakar ro diye...

Tum mujhe yun bhula na paoge. 26 years since you passed away and we have not forgotten you. Nor we will till we leave this world. Even the new generation born after your passing away enjoy your songs. May you rest in peace.

Greatest Singer!!!
by SHIVNATH on Aug 01, 2006 01:29 PM  Permalink

Such is the greatness of his voice that whenever I am happy or sad, his songs (happy ones/ sad ones) really touch the heart. His songs bring peace & relaxation to the mind. A GREAT-GREAT VOICE THAT CAN RELAX YOU ANY TIME IN ANY CONDITION.
Sonu Nigam looks like he is having nearly 60-70% voice sweetness of that of Rafi Saheb's and see how good Sonu Nigam sings.

Pay tribute to Rafisaab
by Valsa Chatterjee on Aug 01, 2006 01:06 PM  Permalink

In over four decades of listening to popular music, I have NEVER come across such a complete singer, who could go beyond language bar, lyrics and even melody, to get to the heart of the song. Breathe life and meaning into everything he touched with his VOICE.. Possibly why he could connect and communicate with the wide section of people, over generations, and still remain fresh.

NO one , not the Three Tenors, Mario Lanza , or our own Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey , Hemant Kumar (all undoubtedly good) , or even Rafisaab's own idol, the legendary K L Saigal, (in my opinion) can hold a candle to him. He is the ONLY one who can bring on a smile, or move us to tears, romance us, entertain us, or make us proud to be Indians.

Truly for me he is the Voice of God. My refuge; my joy. And from all reports, he had a nature and temperament to match.

Many have been substituted. There may be millions of identical twins but to date there has never been another Mohammed Rafi.Even his most earliest songs when played today sound as if he is still around us. I am sorry to say that now days there is a conspiracy
that FM in Kolkata as well Bollywood industries are not paying proper tribute to this legend. Now days we
found songs from other singers but they simply dont play good songs of Mohd Rafi. This is my only regret
i have on this death anniversary of Rafi saab.

RE:REMEMBERING RAFI SAAB
by darakhsha on Aug 02, 2006 11:39 AM  Permalink
You read my mind Sanjay bcoz even I have been witnessing the same,I work in KSA but whenever I go back to Bombay on vacation I seldom hear rafisaab's songs during the peak hours,All the FM channels are the same and the the less said about the crass RJs the better, seems they do not understand music or there is some kind of hidden agenda.I thinks its time Rafi fans should take the bull by its horns.
