AS Lara & pontings definately score much more than him if they played 156 tests.....and even if Gavaskar can cross his records if he don't retire in his best time.

nobody forced sachin to play at 4.. even he could have come at 3 or 2... he played half his matches in batting friendly pitches of india

Ponting did not have to face ambrose and walsh in peak, allen donald in peak, shane warne, glenn mcgrath and gillespie in peak. Australia always conspired against murali so didnt have to play murali in australia (murali never toured australia in between 1995-2007). Between 1987 and 1998 i think they went to pakistan only once so didnt have to play akram and waqar. Definitely didnt have to carry the burden of 1 billion people every time he went to crease and also could come to the crease with the luxury of hayden and langer before him and mark & steve waughs, martyn and gilchrist after him. What about all that buddy. Now whatz ur opinion
If u just see statistis then it might look like ponting is a better batsman than sachin.But if one take into consideration that Sachin played for India whereas Ponting played for australia.Ponting had advantage of playing at number 3 and openers were hayden and langer.So then always used to get good start so that ponting can play freely.In contrast Indians had inconsistant and weak openers wih exception of sewag and gambir.So in early part of his career he used to come at time when team was in trouble especially when India played abroad.Now check ponting record for past 10 test his record would be pathetic.Reason aussies don't have good openers and this is reflected in ponting's score.

i agree with u jatin..u r right..god has given us sachin..n instead of celebrating his talent, mastery, work ethics, gamesmanship....ppl r busy finding flaws in him..he is and will remain a genius..a real kohinoor of indian cricket

dear u have forgotten gavaskar who played against dangerous blower of 70s and 80s and fought from front. dravid he is there 4 last 13 yearsas a wall he is best test player india has got. now coming to lara he got tremendous pressure as wi had no good opener nor good middle order much more than sachin now u go and see wat ponting has done in africa u cannot take his credit no doubt sachin is good player but in my opinion he is after dravid ang gavaskar
