He didnot win, singe handedly a singe tournment for India..He mught have played about 3 to 4 World Cup events and none of them have his impact. Greatests are not only known by their presence for several years..they are recognized by their contribution in winning events like...Kapil, Gavaskar, Amarnath, Srikanth, Snadeep Patil, Kirmani and etc..form India..Imran and Akram etc from Pakistan....Allen Border and Shane Warne from Aus....Viv Richards and others from WI..who all of them have contributed for winning Mega Events for their countries.....unlike Kumble, who played for 17 years with no imprint of his presence in Indian Cricket...So, he is one among other pages in Indian Cricket History..of course a memorabe page with his persona achievements like 10 wickets in an innings and Indian highest wicket taker in ODIs and Tests..thats all....

What's bugging you? Can't you recognize the greatness of Kumble in his sheer dogged persevering nature. He could carry on for hours with his nagging accuracy. He was not flamboyant and a different kind of a spinner. So why is your vision clouded to recognize a genuine soldier of Indian Cricket?

Abe chutkule kiss the whore,
After kapil, kumble is the only wicket taking bowler due to whom india have won in the continental as well as abroad grounds. Jaa ke pehle ek badhiya see cricket stats ki book refer kar ya phir cricinfo.com par statsguru section refer kar. you need to upgrade your knowledge.

Agreed, No doubt Warne is the best leg spinner till date, but Anil's greatness is in his control over his own limitation and use them as his deadly weapons.
You look, he can't spin the ball as warne does, but due to only variation of speed, length and bounce and most important his flippers, he is having the average at par with warne.
One pore point here is that warne has got his max.wickets againt English who are not good spin players, He was total failure against indians. but kumble has take wickets again sub-continantal great spin playing teams also.
So Don;t compare these two different styles of bowling greats and appreciate the efforts of kumble in indian success in the recent past.

i really wonder mr chivkula at ur ignorance of the game before u even start pointing ur mud soiled fingers at one of the greats of the game. when i say 'game' i mean indian cricket bowling achivements..........as for the afore mentioned cricketers i dont really see any famous spinners u mentioned (spare for warney) and most mentioned are batsmen rather than spinners. i will tell u this for one time, u gotta give credit to what kumble has given to the indian cricket team with his single-minded dogged determination over the years. if u can even picture that one incident in the carribean when he was hurt on the jaw by a bouncer, he came back on to the field with a bandage tied around only to try and give india a sniff of a victory. my sympathies to you for being a cricket fan who cant recognise this and a zillion more contributions from a gem of an indian cricketer. i shall forerver miss watching the great bowling ace ever bowl in a one-day international ever just like a billion other indians

Kishore you fool. I think you know cricket from the articles of Prem Panicker only and have never watch in your life. Even Kapil's performance is nowhere near to Kumble.

Kishore Garu, What cricket do YOU watch sir?
From the top of my head, here is a list of matches Kumble has helped India win:
1) Hero Cup Final, 6/12, India won 2) Titan Cup v Australia in Bangalore, Kumble and Srinath won it with the bat 3) 10/74 v Pak, New Delhi, India won (and you seem to know about it, congratulations)
If you are of the view that Kumble has no "imprint and presence" in, I can only suggest you go and take a long hard look at your own knowledge of the sport!!
