Dravid should resign
by Uttamkumar on Mar 29, 2007 10:14 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

If Dravid is a gentleman he should resign from Captaincy.
In Srilanka Jaysurya, Attapatu resigned from the captaincy after the team defeated.
In South Africa Shawn Pollock resigned after their team lost in last world cup.
Many other gentleman of other teams resigned from the captaincy taking the responsibility of the defeat but continue playing for the team.

Dravid should also resign gracefully before he is sacked.

The indian team as a whole should be blamed for its knock out of world cup and not the Captain and coach only. Let's not blame Dravid or any other individual player. The entire Indian team have let us down completely in shame.

Captaincy record for gangul y and dravid statistics prove dravid did equally good job in 16 months compared to ganguly ' 5 yrs
Dravid within 16 months did good job and equally good odi success what ganguly has in 5 yrs. Ganguly had full support of bcci and dalmiay prsd with ganguly for all 5 yrs of his captaincy. Nobody ex cricketer or board officials dare not speak against ganguly's blunders He continued to enjoy captaincy even his late 3 yers he was out form and non performing but he was forutnate that dravid sachin, kumble laxman sewag were all in form and contributed lot his success as captain more than ganguly leadership qualities
Team won 23 out of 76 odis when sachin was captain
Team won 76 odis out of 147 matches when ganguly was captain
Team won 33 odis out of 65 ( including this WC matches) when dravid was captian
Both sachin and ganguly had more time as captain
Out of 76 matches 38 matches won in india and 31 odis wins are against weaker team like kenya, nambia and Zimb
Dravid did not loose any odi series at home ( even SA it was drawn 2-2) and 2 matchs against ZImb
Except Australia no other team is winning series consistanly there is always ups and downs Even when ganguly was captain there were wins and many humiliated defeat. Team did not win all series under his captaincy.
Team India did not win in SA when ganguly was also captain. Team had humiliated defeat by Kiwis( 56 all out a record) aussies, WI, Pakistan when ganguly was captain. Team had some lost test and odi series when ganguly was captain. John and ganguly build a team and watched how it collapsed. Team was ranked 8th in ICC odi ranking and it was broken ship when dravid made capatian
Bangladesh beat India when ganguly was captian. Still it is not so good team Even team goes under dravid captain there is chance of winnin After SL series dravid removed from captaincy and made captain for Zim tour which India could have won even when dravid ware captain.
Ganguly responsible for the outset of kumble, laxman, nayna mongia from the odi team he also spoiled the careear of Akash chopra, hemang badani, partiv patel, muali karthik, Ajay ratra, S gopan ramesh, SS das
Even dravid encouraged yougnerst like raina, munaf, sresant, dinesh karthick, robin, also recommended payush chawla to share the ind team dressing room though even he is not part of team.Statistics prove that dravid did equally good job just withing 16 months compared to ganguly%u2019s achived ment in 5 yrs and that he has no godfather in bcci the way ganguly had dalmiaya.

Man!! Are you from Indian Institute of Statistics management !!!!!

But one forgets that there are lots of aspects beyond statistics, where Dravid even cant be called a good captain leave aside being a GREAT one.
The best captain of all times India had was Saurav.
You are comparing what Saurav did in five years to what Dravid did in 2. But its a simple fact that when Ganguly took over it was a team and country shattered of confidence for the matchfixing era that preceded.
Saurav's great ness cant be measured by his no. of wins as a captain, it took him years to bring up, groom what we now hail as TEAM INDIA.
He fought all odds, to get some of the now so called superstars [read Sehwag, Yuvi, Bhajji, Zaheer. etc] their status.
He even kept Dravid in one day scheme of things by utilising him as a wicket keeper[if not for his slow batting then, he would have been long dropped from the ODI side]
Agreed that team was filled with stars like Sachin, Laxman, Sehwag, Dravid but see how well he captained a team with seniors without much dissent and divide, he had the command and aggression of a true leader.
He is an enigma as rightly said by Geoff Boycott in Times now.

Now look at Dravid, he took over a team that was readymade by Saurav and went on a winning spree, when thing started falling apart, Dravid was clueless how to handle the situation and pressure.
Remember most wins were in initial days, when he had the readymade team and much experiments of the trio[Dravid, Chappel and More had not happened]
Remember most wins were in the subcontinent, none in tougher conditions such as Aus, SA, WI etc
It all started from WI tour where India lost 4-1.
Then Kualalumpur, then Champions trophy at HOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then SA, total disaster, all losses and nature of losses???????? could not even bat 40 overs with so called visionary team of the TRIO.
Both captain and coach were clueless.

If he cannot manage a team which has senior players in it, then he doesnt deserve that chair, naturally a person who is taller in stature and abilities, is going to command more respect amongst teammates.
He kept saurav out saying his presence has bad influence on the zide, but it was the same Dada's entry that brought life to the team in South Africa.
Dravid's win percentage just doesnt matter, what matters is that he couldnt handle crisis, he was utter failure, so was GReG... They are not the solutions to India's woes, going to Saurav would be a step back now, lets look at the future, a new young experienced captain is must, maybe YUVI fits the bill best, and he must be supported by Seniors, rest who dont must be shown the way.
He must be given 4 yrs to learn and mature as a captain and head the contingent in 2011.

Bottomline lets not compare gangauly to Dravid.

If Dravid is a gentleman he should resign from Captaincy.

Ganguly took many crucial and finest decision during his captaincy. After Kapil team under him reached to final.
Where will you put Dravid as compare to him?

Ok, Dravid will resign. May be, Ganguli will come back as captain. But Sehwag will suck as usual, Tendulkar will be the dharti ki bhoj as usual and Uthappa will flunk at every opportunity. Munaf Patel will bowl like my mother and Dinesh Karthick will only score centuries against Bangladesh.. Oops, sorry, he cant do that now. What the f will change for Indian team, dude?

Dravid is not captain any more. He was made captain only till world cup. The main problem with half of indian population is that they dont know facts assume something and demand something
