This is not the CHAPPELWAY
by Vaibhav Sihorkar on Mar 28, 2007 01:57 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I think the pathetic Indian Cricket team performance can not be blamed of selection issues.

IS THIS CHAPPELWAY?

If Chappel failed to impress the Captain and Selectors, on the choice of players they should take in the world cup, then its a SERIOUS problem. In this scenario we can not expect more that what is achieved by Team India (exit before super-8). Moreover this was not the Chappelway, we know.

BANKING ON YOUNGSTERS

The youngsters failed to show repeatedly, on the numerous opportunities given to them. So Chappen any way, can not get favors banking on them.

THEN WAHT ARE THE REASONS??

Probably, the team is failed in AAPLYING THE CRICKET BASICS. Not rotating the strike, allergic in running between the wickets, great players playing for themselves, Dravid's failure as a leader and MOST IMPORTANTLY, not showing sense of urgency and die hard attitude towards respecting the TRICOLOR.

SOLUTIONS

Send a strong message to those, who should have taken responsibility/mentoring role and they failed in creating IMPACT (Sachin, Saurav, Sehwag, Dravid, Agarkar, Harbhajan). If allowed to play further, we are going to have repeatedly the similar episodes in future.

Get systems right, get people involved, who speak their mind and do not avert taking tough decisions.

The Team tried too much of basics. As seen during recent time the way the game was played has changed. We still cannot bank on our old basics.

Trying to put your head down and stick to the wicket till the 40th over and then throwing the wicket to catch up on the runrate is not a good strategy at all.

The attitude that indians showed was very poor. They were on the defensive right from day one.No aggression and this is mainly due to the presence of vintage players.
