Loss at WC
by Hebbar R on Mar 26, 2007 03:30 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

News Channels are reporting that Sachin Tendulkar is likely to be the next captain of India. It will be most surprising and unusual if that were to happen. While most people think that it is time for him to retire honourably, the BCCI is reported to be thinking of giving him the captaincy. Just look at his performance in the WC and it is not wrong to feel totally let down. This even though the weight of captaincy is not on him.

Is this idea of capatincy for Sachin anything to do with his being from Mumbai?

The only reason for Sachin to be made Captain is that because our Indian Cricket Team is totally divided into two camps. Rahul Dravid camp and Sourav Ganguli Camp. The only person agreeable to both faction is SDachin Tendulkar. Thus he is not being made Captain for his cricketing ability but because he is only Nutural player left in our Guru Greg's Team. Yuvraj is the best man to captain the team but being close to Sourav is handicap. Thus only one left to take this responsibility is Sachin Tendulkar. Understood

if a man who has been breathing (not just playing) cricket for the past 16 years cannot devise strategies to set field and attack the players of the opponents, who else would?

but the problem was that sachin favoured his mumbai collegues without thinking about the talent of other batsmen, whereas Ganguly was the man who brought in Bhajji, yuvraj, sehwag, dhoni into the team without giving importance to someone like devang gandhi for example who was from Bengal.

We have lost the best captain we have got and we are not ready to accept a person with the best cricketing brain and experiance availible in the country! pathetic

I'am a great supporter of Tendulkar but i agree with you and many others that the root cause of India's failure in this WC is his inability to deliver when it really matters; his inability to handle pressure may spell more doom for India in the future!
But if he has a diastrous England tour, he might announce his retirement.
