just a game
by radhika kumari on Mar 19, 2007 02:59 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

just an unfortunate and shocking aftermath of the unhealthy emotional importance ind and pak cricket fans give to cricket. as we write condolences for him our own fans are running berserk burning effigies, houses and what not. for what? for the most ephemeral and unpredictable of all sprts, one day cricket. cant think about whats gonna happen if our team fails to make it to the next round. i think the players' families should be given Z category security and the players should probably spend time somewhere else before returning home. its just a game, friends, let them play. if they can enter super 8 from here, it will be great and memorable. if not, let us look forward to future series and tournaments. this is not the end of the world. they are not gods. let them try their best and leave the rest to luck/fate whatever u call it. pls fellow country men, take things in their stride and be sportive. we are not surrendering part of our land to anyone. just 11 mortal beings playing a game where teh result could be decided by dozens of factors, some way beyond their control. let us enjoy and get happy/sad but not resort to violence and go after families of players. the politicians of this country deserve worse, yet no one seems to worry about that after 60 years of corruption and anarchy.
