Captaincy myth
by Suman Bhat on Mar 31, 2007 12:10 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Kapildev, gavasakr, Gaikwad, GR viswanath, anil kumble, kiran morem Farook Engkineer, supoorted dravid's captaincy
stat tells that dravid is doing equally good job when compared to ganguly's 5 yrs tenurs success.differernce in odi winning averagre is 1.5%
ganguly was captain for 5yrs a lengthier period and dravid is leading side from last 16 months. so more matches played under ganguly captaincy
can dravid lead side for equal no matches?
it was dravid kumble, laxman and sachin contributed lot to ganguly's success more than his leadership qulity. ganguly took the credit for hard work of other players but dravid atleast shared credit of victory with his teammates. dravid acceped his responsiblity for defeat infront of media Had ganguly ever did likethat? when team lost matches he was pushing dravid to conduct press briefs???
so achievement of five yrs can not be acheieved in 16 months still the diff between winning average is only 1%
Ganguly -5 yrs
Team won 76 odis out of 147 matches when ganguly was captain

out of 147 matches India won 76 (51.70%) lost 66 (44.90%) Tie or no results 5(3.40%) won 74 (50.34%)

But Saurav captained 34 ODI against minnows Bangla Desh Zimbabwe Namibia Kenya Netherlands Canada etc%u2026..

Dravid %u2013 16 months
Team won 33 odis out of 65 ( including this WC matches) when Dravid was captian

India won 33 (50.77%) lost 28 (43.08%)no result/ tie 4 (6.15%)

But Dravid captained ot 65 matches captained only two ODI against minnows i.e. Bangladesh and Bermuda

http://www.hindustantimes.in/htcricket/74_1959563.htm
why ganguly dhoni harbajan were not in sight of picture of ind dressing room which tv channels were showing all other players were in tears
ganguly used dalmiay when he had power of bcci and stayed as nonperforming captian for almost lat 2 yrs of his capaticy he did not deserve XII man in team
but when dalmiay lost power he ditched dalmiaya
dravid anchored ganguly's success as captain by his performance. ( gnaguly succss is contributions of sachin laxman kumble sewag NOT B'CUZ OF AGRESSION OR LEADERSHIP QUALIT)
BUT GANGULY ditched dravid and betryed team
early exit in WC prove dravid not good capatain or gnaguly recod did not harm
ganguly promoted groupism and he only thrown laxman and kumble out of odi team
Dravid is still no XII odi batsmanin in ICC ranking while ganguly is NO 57 in ICC odi ranking

I WONDER HOW GANGULI-HATERS LIKE SUMAN BHAT STILL RAISE THEIR VOICES. YOUR PERIOD IS OVER (WHICH STARTED DURING CHAPPEL-GANGULI ROW). YOUR VOICES SHOULD HAVE GOT CHOCKED BY NOW.
YOU HAVE SUPPORTED SOMEONE & SOMETHING AND YOU
HAVE FAILED. JUST KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT TILL NEXT WORLD CUP.

I DON'T WANT TO GO INTO ANY CRICKETING ANALYSIS WITH MYOPIC PERSONS LIKE YOU.

your statistics are all wrong.god knows from where u spun all these latest gossip stories.
u may be a blind follower and servant of Dravid`s but don`t think u can spread such horrible stuff.Even Dravid `Sir`ji will not like it and u`ll lose ur job!
When India win nowadays(that rarely happens abroad nowadays),YOU ACT AS IF IT IS A ONE-MAN TEAM OF DRAVID`s and WHEN THEY LOSE,YOU SAY IT`S BCOZ OF ALL THE OTHER 10!!!!!
YOU LIKE STATISTICS,DON`T YOU? HERE ARE THE TRUE ONES-Dravid got 81 runs from 3 matches at 27.00 per match and Ganguly got exactly double from the same @ 54/match.
Under Dravid-Chappell India have won just 3 matches(vs. Pak,WI and BERMUDA) ouside the subcontinent out of 15 matches! sweet stats, aren`t they??
u see, unlike u, I don`t take so much joy in bickering over such stupid things,so pls try to get some common sense,it comes cheap..

Fo your kind infromation Dravid would'nt have been there team, if Ganguly wouldn't have take him as a wiket keeper at that time. And dravid would have been playing in domestica cricket now.
And you must know that Sourav had dynamic capacity to draw wonderfull performance from any cricketer though he is in out of form like once Dravid was??

After reading my post don't you ever say that sourav asked dravid to keep so as to accomodate him in the team.
I have put the same post to one other fella 'Swaponaneel Mukherjee' and asked him if he could give me any damn link where he can prove his claim. He didn't get back to me.
I am challenging you, Can you give me any link to prove your claim that 'Sourav asjed Dravid to keep so that Dravid can retain his place in the ODI team'?
If not just shup up!.
Cheers

DEAR Prabu,

WHAT makes u think all the decision and discission has to have a URL...decesion were made not to give you proof but for betterment of Indian cricket so that India can reach WC final...

If it was current Inidan management ( dravid & chappel ) before any decision were made there would have been thousands SMS & millions of URLs just to show who is in 'POWER' making decisions but not taking responsibility of advancement of Indian cricket....SO time for you to shut up or put up ...

I have gone through lots of post about Sourav Ganguly standing by Rahul when Rahul wasn't in the best of the nick in ODI's. Also that Sourav accomodated Rahul in his ODI setup as a keeper so that Rahul can retain his place.
Check the records for yourself.
Rahul's peak time in ODI started during the Newzealand tour in 1998-99 just before the 1999 world cup. This was when he re-invented his One Day batting technique. At that time Md Azharuddin was the Indian Skipper not Sourav. Rahul btb was the highest run getter in the 1999 edition of WC held in UK.
Secondly, with regard to Rahul's wicket keeping claim, it was Sourav's master brain to thrust Rahul with the job not because he wanted Rahul to retain the place in ODI but because he wanted to accomodate an extra batsman in the team.
Hope this puts the record straight.
Cheers
