ok enough of this sehwag issue. he should just sit out. go with 6 batsmen and 5 bowlers. windies won with that combination. we have a tendancy to take early wickets and then let the opposition climb back up. this is the world cup, so we need to keep things tight from the beginning to the end. sehwag is out of form and he should be excluded from the team. we dont wanna take risks here just so people can justify their decision to include him in the team. im not saying he's not gonna be back in form. all im saying is why risk it when u can have a perfect inform team with the right combination. ganguly uthappa dravid tendulkar yuvraj dhoni pathan/agarkar/kumble* harbhajan zaheer sreesanth munaf karthik (12th man) - he's a great fielder! about the pathan/agarkar-kumble issue we need a the 5th bowler to be a spinner or pacer depending on the playing condition. on a turning turf with uneven bounce kumble should get the nod. if its a paceman's paradise then agarkar or pathan. i would prefer pathan, but he just hasn't picked up pace or swing till now, if things change then he should get the nod ahead of agarkar, if not agarkar should be our 5th bowler on a green pitch. i think its imperative that we go all attack with the ball. that'll offer some cushion for the bowler and they can bowl without worrying what is they screw up. cuz if we go with only 4 bowlers and a main bowler has a bad over, the pressure will mount and that'll turn into his off-day. cuz he'll be thinking about doing his job right and u certainly dont want part-timers bowling 20 overs among them. that was the major problem we faced over the last year. good starts and then the opposition milked the part-timers. lemme know what u guys think!!

Dear Mr. Ifear paceman
The big difference between the team that lost to Windies 4-1 and then miserably to all teams coming in Champions Trophy and then the current team is Ganguly.
ODI cricket is not all about strike rate. As an opener, you have to maintain one end and prevent top order collapse. If other openers like Uthappa, Sachin or Sehwag hit form, we can have a big score straightaway.
But if we lose them early, people like Ganguly and Dravid have to consolidate the middle innings and then allow enough space for the middle order like Yuvi and Dhoni to use the slog overs.
Evar since his comeback, Ganguly has done well against all teams, be it SA, SL or WI and so he is our premier batter on form.
His Strike rate is 73 because he played a lot of Cricket as second fiddle to Sachin and had to shoulder the responsibility of keeping his end intact.
Also, the strikerates of batsmen were not as high during the early days of Ganguly's career. It is only over past 5 - 6 years that we are seeing big totals and regular big chases.
So Dear ifear pacemen, You may fear pacemen; but not Ganguly. If he were to be afraid, he would have chosen not to play again. And that to make a comeback in South Africa of all places. He may have somewhat faulty technique. But his commitment, determination and courage can't be questioned. In fact he is the Bravest Indian Cricketer ever.
So instead of being a pussy cat and keeping on purring nonsense about Ganguly, try to play the game yourself. Try facing some club level medium pacers from Gujarath and then come back and write. I am sure your fingers will be so bruised, you'll need assistance to type out an apology to Saurav Ganguly, undoubtedly one of India's All Time Greats and the Greatest Indian Captain to-date.

Come next day morning try to throw once again if you can throw cricket ball 44 yards long come and discuss with me.
Check if even Ganguly can do it from 60 yards? lol....

Just a few points for those who criticise the inclusion of Ganguly in the team and blind support for Ganguly in his home state. If such blindness is against the law, take action. If not, keep quiet. If such blindness can bring back their idol in spite of his non performance, it is nothing wrong in such blindness from the Bengal point of view. From the Indian point of view or your point of view just imagine how weak the Board is, succumbing to the Bengal pressure. So instead of criticising Bengal why don't you criticise the spineless Board. But I am sure none of you has ever criticised the Board nor is criticising the Board, because in the core of your heart you know inclusion of Ganguly is inevitable and justified. You are just criticising Bengal and Saurav out of your tummyful of jealousy. This jealousy is not going to harm anybody but those anti-Bengal and anti Saurav guys who are developing indigestion in their tummys. This indigestion would grow more and more with every good knock played by Ganguly. Ultimately this indigestion would turn into cancer and all anti Saurav and anti Bengal guys will die premature death one after another following match winning knocks by Ganguly and praise of Dada ringing in the air. Yes true still Ganguly is useless for ODI.Scoring slowly in 5/6 home ODI cannot confirm that he still has some form in him.Rest is Diwali for opposition.
With VVS (VERY VERY SLOW) Ganguly in team if he clicks and consume one third balls of Indian Innings. That too in power play. We can Not score more than 240 runs.
Strike rate 73 multyply by 300 balls is 219 score. This means other have to score more than 100 strike rate to score more than 280 runs.
May be if other 200 balls available people have to score at strike rate of more than 105 just to reach 290 score.
So we can safely conclude If Ganguly scores we are likely to loose against Major team.

uve got it all wrong with ganguly man .. he is the best player ever .. he scores at a very brisk rate .. elegant to watch .. and the attitude and aggression and anger he has is a great benefit to the team ..along with his experience ..and his ability to dominate the spinners and his beautiful timing thru the offside ..,

better we keep this combination. Its very difficult to avoid sehwag-hey guys is a wonderful player, but poor guy having really bad time, hope he will come into good form in this worldcup, but one thing is sure, if he plays good, than def worldcup is ours.
