sachin peaked!
by Balaji Vaidyanath on Mar 05, 2007 03:59 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

sachin should retire.. he's increasingly being a burden to the team... he peaked in the year 2001 afer which his performance has been consistently dropping. its surprising that sachin fans cant notice this.. with him in the team.. we can forget the world cup.. or rather BCCI should go to Big Bazaar show room and buy a world cup replica... LoLLLL. Sachin has all along been playing for records.. All he's interested when he comes to the crease is to see his tally of 50's going up by one... after thats achieved he would want his tally of 100's to tick up by another one.. all this would he happening parallely when the team is sinking (if against a good opposition)/ or the team is winning (if its against a minnow)... he's the champion of minnows

Hi Balaji

I totally dis-agree. You cannot be saying this that Sachin has been playing for records. Yes, I will not claim that he is in peak form but again he is not at bottom low. He has shown glimpses of old Sachin during recently concluded series , while he batted in middle order.

Anyways, people say and then amend. It will be exactly like that in this case. I don't want to make tall claims on behalf of Sachin , however, I am pretty sure that He will be one of the top run getters in this world cup , as well.

No point in debating at this juncture, however, just wait and watch

Regards,

You will be surprised!
Of course he has got older in 2007 than he was in 2001! But you have got your facts wrong! In 2003 World Cup, he was the player of the series with the highest aggregrate of 673 runs! The way he demolished Pakistan in the league matches, was something to be seen to be believed. Do you forget that in that match Shoaib Akhtar was taken off the bowling after only one over because Sachin plundered him for more than a dozen runs in the first over.
Sachin will surprise you as he has a big match temperament! Remember Sharajah? Come on Balaji, you need not be so vitriolic in your comments on one of the greats that we have!

dear rajesh,
pls understand those are all one off innings... where is the consistency... why didnt he rip australian bowlers in the final of 2003... all u can remember is select few innings of sachin.. thats all.. infact u cant point out any such innings of ponting or lara or hussey.. coz they are so damn consistent and so used to winning matches for the team that no particular innings would have stood out.. he must have used this good form in WI and SL series and retired gracefully when he is on high.. like warne, mcgrath, langer

All those innings and you call it one off! Aren't you contradicting yourself. One off is one off, not all those!
Dear Balaji, I would love to see your comments on Sachin at the end of April! See you then!

Hussey? He did not play long enough to be even compared with Sachin. And lara, he may have made 300s and 400s in test cricket, but certainly he is not at all consistent. He plays in a very weak team, fires only once in a while. If sachin can take us to final, can't others perform in one match to win the cup? is he the only man in the team who should perform everytime? Learn the game of cricket first and then u can make any comments. It is not just abt batting, it is also abt bowling and australia has great bowlers. Sometimes they can dominate too!
