Bowling ... oh no ... Batting Allrounder ... oh neither
by Rahul Jain on Feb 26, 2007 06:22 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The point is that Pathan is no longer a bowler. Two years back he was simply superb and Indian supporters felt that he was going to be the next Wasim Akram.

Two years down the line and he is a pale shadow of the player he once was. No Swing, no movement off the pitch and definitely no pace. The way he is bowling now I wonder if Mick Lewis's record of giving away a century might be broken by Pathan.

His batting has come up by leaps and bounds, but then if he is not going to be able to bowl with International Standards, might as well opt for a full time batsman.

This compromise is not going to work and for all the hullabaloo that he is generating, I think Pathan will most likely be

a) A passenger for most of the tournament
b) If plays, will be made a scapegoat (maybe rightly so)

This is one selection that makes an Indian supporter feel betrayed, especially with the injustice done to Powar.

true. Pathan does not deserve to be sitting in the dressing room. he needs to find his form back and to be included as front line bowler. for that they should give him time to get hisform back in domestic or county cricket which really worked for zaheer khan. same applies to sehwag. like ganguly he also should be made to prove his class in domestic or county. and if they fail in these then they cant be included in indian team.
