Wrong Decision
by Prasant N on Apr 29, 2007 07:50 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It's sad to see that the 9th Edition of World Cup cricket ended in much chaos. The on field umpires must be given the right to take decisions whereby the common sense prevail. Not every decision be made strictly acording to ICC laws. (Denying Michael Clarke his maiden run because of running on the pitch & Asking Srilanka to bat in the dark when the match was virtually over and it was very difficult to even site the ball, forget about playng proper cricket shots)

What a terrible shame! The World Cup was already a mess before they starting playing the Final game of the tournament. You would have though the referees (on or off the field) where up to speed on the rules of D/L. This just goes to show that the age old D/L method shoul dnever be adopted for any future World Cup series or in any other tournament. When will the ICC buck up their ideas and bring the game into the 21st centruy and devise a new way of calculating this or even to scrap the entire method and make ruling to say all games that are predominantly rained off to go into the second day.
