Me and some other cricket fans (read, those who are not concerned about Tendulkar's revenue) have been saying over and over again in rediff message boards that if it is anybody who has to take the maximum responsibility for this debacle it has to be Mr. Greg Chappell.
We feel vindicated now that one of the high priests of Indian cricket has echoed a similar view. Chappell was a cunning man who has exploited the one-down view of spineless people like More and Pawar and has run the team like an anarchist on the loose.
Alas, the great fans of Indian cricket are not sagacious enough even to consider Greg as a possible reason for this failure. Everything negative thing had to do with Tendulkar's endorsements and thats the sole reason for our exit. It is this myopic and maniac view prevalent among the Indian fans that chappell used to his advantage and took the back-door like a coward.
See, when he took over the team had just challenged Australia in their own back-yard and won after decades of sore losing in Pakistan and was brimming with talent, Irfan, Balaji, Yuvraj, Kaif lending great support to Dravid, Tendulkar, and Ganguly and as these three were staring down the end of their careers time just seemed to be right for a glorious world cup. Enter Greg Chappell and everything fell down to pieces all the great work was undone. Every player who seemed to be coming along nicely was taken to the cleaners, seniors realized that their place was under threat because of this cunning coach who wears different hats depending upon the people whom he is talking to (media, players, ex-players, ...) and everything came to a ruin.
Sunny, the only thing I feel bad about your statements is the timing. You should have come out and called the cowards out in public as soon as the debacle than waiting the selectors and that cunning man beat the escape route in the public hysteria surrounding the loss. All said this is the best statement coming out of Indian cricket in a while. Thanks for your support to our team.

Oh Mr.Murali...c'mmon Do you think it is because of Greg Chappell, the team didn't do well. Is it because of Greg that none of our batsmen batted well or they had no sense of national pride and assuming responsibilty. Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, Sehwag, Harbhajan, Yuvraj are coached for the last fifteen years by different coaches. Do you need to ask them what kind of coach do they require to play well. Does the team needs coaching everyday before going to sleep or the previous coaches also didn't teach them anything`. Do you also think, Dravid needs training for captaincy. It was such foolish of him to keep Sehwag in team on his insisting and to play Harbhajan in place of Kumble. Mr.Murali please use your senses and open your eyes before you say something and forget about Gavaskar. He is no less and if you dig a little bit, you can easily find what politics and hell he himself created in Indian cricket...ask Mohinder Amarnath for best information. The best he could do at the moment, he should coach Rohan with full attention and dedication... and you may also ask about the money found in his locker at Bombay Jimkhana

When you don't have morale as a team, I don't think national pride will spur you to win the cup. Besides, with the number of games these players play a year, they are just like any other professionals. For a professional it does not matter what the project is is or how big it is they are just trained to ace it. In order for them to do their best the environment needs to be supportive and the auxiliary structures needs to be at their best. Now, tell me, with Sharad Pawar being the BCCI head, flip-flop More being the chairman, unfair zonal selection polices, innumerable matches designed to milk money out of them, insane public expectations, which of these factors are favorable for the players.
I am not saying players played their best, they are guilty of poor performance, but why are the backs of Greg and Dravid who decided to bat on a seaming track against Bangladesh not held under fire. Is Tendulkar and Ganguly responsible for this, are they also responsible for Kumble not playing against Lanka, are they also responsbile for Uthappa not making for Shreesanth??
Maybe you should wonder why West Indies in spite of having great players like Sharwan, Chanderpaul, Gayle, and decent to good bowlers and above all the GOD himself Lara has been losing consistently while the same West Indies team of the yore were such world beaters. The answer if you have been following the news is that they are very divided, the board is corrupt, it is not paying them well, it is not spending on infrastructure, it is not grooming faster bowlers with good pitches, their second-tier cricket is in shambles. Now, tell me is it Lara lacking nationalism reason for West Indies poor performance??

Because Australians have the stamina. Have u seen the body language after India scores 250 runs on board?. They are already 80% drained.

I respect you language and putting things. But you should understand the basics. I am not here to debate. Its not Chappell or Sunny who can save India cricket. Its Politics and Senior players. Its Game made us money making business. One simple question why Mr.Pawar wants to become as BCCI president.
