Contribution of Dravid-Chapell
by Susobhan Ghosh on May 09, 2007 07:01 PM   Permalink

1. Destroyed Dhoni by asking him to bat like Laxman. dhoni is Dhoni, he is not Laxman.
2. Pathan was doing good as a bowler. But the intent of converting him to a Kapil Dev too soon destroyed his cconfidence. He was a bowler first, then whatever he could contribute as a tail-end batsman was to be considered as a bonus.
3. Sehwag also destroyed like Dhoni. He was asked to select his shot to become a Tendulkar probably. Sehwag was a destructive batsmann, now he has been destructed by Chapell mantra.
4. Destroyed the confidence of Ganguly by dropping him and the unfriendly treatment towards him by the captain. All players were scared of talking to Ganguly openly, because that will be construed by Chapell-Dravid as a conspiracy. Finally when all players were failing in WC, Ganguly was batting defensively partly because he had secure his place for the next match, and partly because he was trying to save the team from embarassment. Then he was labelled as slow scorer as if he was all out to desttroy Dravid.

Finally I would really like to know who is really baccking Dravid after the disaster in WC. Most of the players were blamed for the disaster except for Dravid. If Dravid can not lead the team with enthusiasm, it is the fault of Ganguly, and now they are not hesitant in including Sachin also. BCCi should be more honest and transparent, and stop protecting Dravid and destroying Indian cricket. Let the players play cricket with a smiling aggressive face without thinking of a spank by BCCI.
