Team Selection
by Ashutosh Kumar on Apr 21, 2007 01:42 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The Selectors job is to select the best and effective team led by a captain who has genuine leadership abilities and not to provide comfort to a useless captain with proven record of failure by keeping out players far more talented and capable. Rahul Dravid has proved beyond doubt that he is not capable of handling pressure nor has the ability/natural knack of taking intelligent moves that captains of all leading teams in the world have demonstrated. Nor has he been successful in hiding his ugly instinct of getting rid of everyone he feels is a threat to his position. Had Ganguly entertained similar thoughts and not carried Dravid as a batsman and wicketkeeper to justify his position in ODI team, Dravid might have faded into oblivion by now.

Perfectly said. I wonder how Dravid still manages to keep captaincy. He is certainly one of the worst captains India has ever had. And he too knows it well, and that's why he is apprehensive of the seniors. Dravid, don't play the dirty games. Hating you these days.

Dravid was the higest run getter in 1999 world cup long before the P of C was made capitan. Actually he did a favour to the thankless Ganguly by accepting the keeping gloves & allowing the luxury of having an extra batsment or bowler which payed dividends to the idiot. One should have also the attitude for like Dravid for a team game, not just talent like Sachin & Saurav. May be both are more talented than Dravid in batting, but Dravid is there just because he has better attitude & will power than these guys. India needs a capitan like him to show the right direction to the team.
