I don't think Dravid is Captainship Material!
by Juzer H on Apr 10, 2007 01:28 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

I don't think Dravid will be a good Captain for India. He lacks aggression and tact.

The current lot of so called Senior Players have brought disgrace to the nation.

If BCCI is really serious, they must suspend all the non-performers from the team for at least one year. Let them compete in the domestic or county cricket for one year.

After one year, if they can match the fitness and strength of the Australian Team Players, they may be given a chance, but on merit only.

Equally responsible are the Selectors who chose such lazy, tired, weak and incompetent souls to represent our great country. All these selectors must be replaced, right away.

It is matter of India's pride. And it is time for BCCI to take a principled stand.

Fact is Captain should have a quality to
extract the best out of team members and
coordinate every properly in the batting order and bowling too. Dravid lacks that quality.

Lat 2 years he did all sort of nonsense
experiments along with Chappell and he miserably
failed in th World cup.
So basic quality of Captaincy does not belong to him/Dravid.

If you think he is a good cricketer, then let it
be (be an example of Arbind De Silva of
Srilanka). But he should resign from Captaincy or be sacked from Captaincy.

Dravid lost/lacks that simple MORAL Character.

I agree with you. Even before the WC 2007, the two tours to WI and SA where India failed misarably in ODIs show that Dravid lacks leadership qualities to extract the best from the players. Whereas in test matches in both the tours India has done well. So, Dravid may be retained as captain for test matches and for ODIs an young and dashing captain (perhaps Yuvraj singh? should be appointed.
