Cricket and Politics
by Suresh Menon on Apr 06, 2007 10:34 AM   Permalink

Politics, regionalism, favouritism - All the make Indian cricket fit enough to be ignored these days. I say what the hell is there to run inquiries about? We've lost a couple of matches, so be it! Is it not sportsmanly to come back strongly in the next series?

Instead we see mudslinging, trading of charges, blame games and what not? It's a pity the sporting aspirations of the 'blue billion (?)' are held for ransom by a bunch of politicians and sports(show)men.

It's time we made sporting activities compulsory in schools and encourage and develop talent in other innumerable sporting activities. Kids should be actively encouraged to pursue the sport of their interest and not blindly worship these so-called sportsmen.
