Chappel is indeed resposible for India's debacle
by Ashish Kumar on Apr 13, 2007 04:22 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Cricket is a team game. Chappelis responsible for disintegrating the Team India which was a well knit unit till he took over the reins. The same players which had taken the Team India to Final in the WC 2003 could not take the team to the Super 8 in the WC 2007. The coach who also took up the role of over all manager for the team, is sqarely responsible for this and owes an explanation. It is a different matter that the BCCI is run by such docile Indians who are not used to challenging white skinned people and wd rather find fault with themselves. When the aussies has manhandled Pawar then too Pawar did not express anguish and this attitude was called greatness in our media.

Dear gentleman,

Greg Chappel is a great coach. Due to the pressure created by the media, and the opinion of a few, we have lost a good coach. The loss is ours and the Australian Cricket Academy has gained him now. He is a great coach, and doesnt require any certificate from anyone for his cricketing skill, as he belongs to a family of great crickets like Ian, Trevor, etc.

You must agree that collectively our team has disappointed us. Poor batting, poor bowling, poor fielding, poor running between the wickets, poor fighting spirits, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, giving too many extras while bowling, etc. have all contributed to our failure. We need to address all these issues squarely and come out of it asap. Blaming Greg for all these, is simply immature.

We must come out of racial thinking, and treat people based on merit and results. That way I feel foreign coaches like Greg, John Wright, Bob Woolmer, Dhav Whatmore, etc have all made good coaches, than our own people. They have the courage to call a spade a spade, irrespective of the status of the player, whereas our people don't do so for fear of losing their jobs.

With best wishes,

Srinivasan.
