Sachin is the most hyped cricketer in the world
by Sridhar on Mar 25, 2007 04:42 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I have gone through most of the messages, but nobody is writing anything about the contribution of sachin tendulkar. I think he was one of the main reasons for india's debacle.
He performs only against weak opposition, and even if he performs well against a better side, it would be on indian pitches and in inconsequential matches. By better side I mean sri lanka or west indies. Against Australia and South Africa, he fails miserably and against them he is not able to perform on indian pitches also. To prove my point, Sachin's performance against Australia in the knock out match in the recent ICC Champions trophy. In Crucial matches he always fails. His body language is there to see in crucial matches. Against a good bowling and fielding side he never performs. Most of his centuries are against weaker sides or on indian pitches or in inconsequential matches. I can go on this topic, because I am an avid cricket fan and have been watching cricket for more than 25 years. I think Gavaskar, Shastri, Harsha Bogle and most TV commentators are responsible for hyping him so much. He is not that great as he is made out to be. Even in the print media nobody writes anything against him. He is not been performing against good teams and in crucial matches for more than 10 years now.
He was good around 10 to 12 years back. He should retire by himself or the board should tell clearly about this.

I totally agree with you ... Most Indians think that Sachin is God re-incarnated. But even then for those people who still want to hold on to His Holiness Sachin may please create an idol of him & worship at home. For the betterment of our performance in the next world cup he has to retire either by grace or force. If past performance is the criteria to keep him in team then kindly reappoint Kapil, Sunil, Vengsarkar & the others also
