I personally feel that chappell has lost interest in Indian team.I think he knows he won't continue as coach and let anything be the result in wc he has to go, so I think he has lost interest to coach Indian team.

he was never interested in coaching, he was,is and will be more interested in making money (crores from BCCI).
Rather than taking cricket as a profession i think his carrier would have shaped in a much better way in scientific fields.
