Very good analysis of ganguly's performance in WC Suman. I 100% agree wen u say Ganguly is responsible for India's WC debacle. He shud definitely not be a part of Indian team either today or even in future. However, I do not agree dat he was not a good captain. India wud not have won those matches had anybody else been the skipper. So, lets give due credit to him. He was responsible to keep the team performing as a unit wen he was the skipper. Cud anybody else not hav played politics during his time and divided the team? The fact is dat he was capable enough (as a skipper) to discourage groupism and ensure dat the team was together as well as performing. Lets not hav a biased view of the complete scenario.

ganguly and his gangresponsible for WC debacle The WC debacle was not an unexpected one . Any knowledgeable follower of the game would say without any hesitation why India failed to make the super 8.. I wish to recall the final of the 2003 WC and would also like to recall the way in which the Team India Captain played. against the Australians. But for the then President of BCCI and his coterie no one would have imagined of selecting him as Captain for the tours ahead. The Captain of Team India at that time played only one good innings both in ODI and Test cricket against the Aussies but for the Present Team India Captain ( the then Vice-Cap) who was instrumental in several wins both during the Australian as well as the Pakistan tours., that man would never have had the opportunity to carry on as Captain. Everyone is aware how the then Captain skipped the match against Australia at Mumbai at the last moment feigning injury but was found shooting and also practicing in his home town and the match was won under the Present Captain. The media which is controlled by the people coming from the same region as the then Captain of Team India did everything to see him back in the team . The result is for everyone to see. Playing 24 overs for 66 runs against Bangladesh, a very badly played 89 vs Bermuda and an inexplicable 7 runs in 27 balls vs Srilanka and supported by a group he had given chances after chances despite poor performances during his days as Captain in order to drive wedge against a tough coach and a real sportsman Captain was the primary task of this man. Such things are possible in this country only. . Who knows such men may be rewarded also. The ignorance of the so called sports loving people is quite evident as at least on 4 occasions international cricket matches were stopped at Eden Gardens and on several occasions involving local matches
