I am sure that the News Channel did not show the full conversation that took place. In a court of law it is likely that Jyothikumaran's argument that he took money to organize a tournament will hold water. The selection of the player he might claim to be a side issue and an act of goodwill on his part to grant a favour to the supposed "organizers" without any consideration. It is a separate issue whether Jyothikumaran was authorized to accept payment in cash for such a purpose by his parent body. It was obviously also not proper of him to promise to oblige someone in the matter of selection of players even if he did it without financial considerations.
