I salute you -Bhutia
by mohan k on Apr 01, 2008 01:19 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I salute the spirit exhibited by Bhutia in refusing to carry the olympic torch. I consider that this is the greatest act of solidarity by sacrificing, may be a life time opportunity to carry the olympic torch and may be risking his sporting career.

Mohan,

Your same hero would have sobbed if he was not invited to carry the torch ! Now, being invited, his Buddhism comes to the fore not Indianism. Yet, you find a hero in him. I pity you !

What has this got to do with Indianism? Questioning the official line is not unpatriotic. India's foreign policy has boiled down to not offending anyone under any circumstances.

Why did Bhutia not think about Tibet when he took the crown of being the Captain of INDIAN Football team ? Tibet issue did not arise just yesterday nor did Olympics ?

What is more important to us Indians ? Rosolving China/Tibet issue or being part of an international even like Olympics ? If Olympics is not important, you all have no regrets for India getting disqualified in Hockey ! Right ?

being captain of Indian Football team has got nothing to do with china but this act does.
Bhutia had shown a courage which many Indians have not despite they have feelings for Tibet. If u r not one of them.. it's your choice.

James, do you agree bring called a representative of your sect/resligion than representative of India ??

I don't. I am an Indian first and expect Bhutia to be an Indian first too. We will separately deal about dispute with China/Tibet, China/India.

unfortunately, all INdians like you and me are not invited to carry the torch...it is the privileged, estwhile olympic medal winners are invited..and they are Indians....as an INdian, after getting the invitation, which is a rate opportunity, if someone sacrificed the same for the sake of expressing solidarity towards tibetians, it is a matter of applause...which the so called secular government of India did not do.
Olympics (sports) is a symbol of peace and harmony and China has no moral right to hold the olympic after torchoring the people of tibet

Democratic country for Indians' cause or Tibetans' ?

Very simple - you cannot differentiate between Territorial disputes and India's presence in Olympics !

whether it is territorial or not, it is a matter of humanity and torchoring and massacring of innocent people with dictatorship.

Where did he say being buddist he is not carrying the torch. he said as human right being voilated he refused to do so. dont forget sikkim was also a disputed land between India/China and more over he is leaving personal glory, and not insulting Nation or defering a national duty as torch carring is just a symbolic gesture.
