Well there are schools in India which have no proper roofs in the classrooms.....no blackboards to write.....But we have money to build a f1 track costing 700 million .....I feel ashamed of this attitude of the politicians and a few of you here who believe this will benefit the country...Open your eyes people...Good luck for those who are truly going to enjoy this masterpiece...I wish this money could be used to build good schools...I wish kalmadi and co took the same interest in building good schools....sad stuff indeed

You are right Ravi. But we know that the money which we give to the government through taxes, so that they can build schools and other basic amenities for poor poeple, does not reach the destination. It diverts in the pockets of corrupt officials.

we have the money to buld all the roads and schools and hospitals, only if yu had woken up earlier and thrashed them then.we are in this state because of scams such as the 30000 crores ruppees PDS ones. why are we so averse to f1 ? our entire infrastusture will be improved with the money thats poured in it. its not that the track will go waste after the race. we will have a world class facility for every motor sport enthusiast and the industry to trials etc. i dont think yu have even read or thought in these lines. just fire away blindly.

Has anyone thought about the environmental damage caused by cars zooming around at top speed? The people who run F1 (ecclestone and party) have their air conditioned cars and 5 star hotels. The real victims of climate change will be the poor.

Use some commen sense man. How much environmental damage can a dozen cars do? I imagine compared to 1 billion plus cars in the planet it is pretty insignificant

Guies be positive. Just think this will create atleast thousands and thousands of jobs directly and indirectly. So many people will be employed and so many will get direct and indirect benefits.
F1 or motor racing is not about only driving and its not like cricket. A lot of mechanics e.g. machines involved in this sport. It is a high end technical sport. Teams like Mclaren spend around $500 million as their annual budget. And think in a week how much each team will invest in India indirectly.
India is growing and people are technically strong hence F1 cannot ingore tapping a hugely talented market neither India can afford to loose a great job market.
F1 is a huge sport and this will give a huge job oppurtunity in sectors like travel, tourisim, IT, steel, manufacturing and and many many which we cannot imagine.
Also this will be a shame if we donot open ourselves for this kind of highly rated sports where direct/indirect benefits are huge.

i agree . not only that . We all know TCS is the IT solution provider of Ferrari f1 team . After a precence in F1 , more & more teams will outsource their Core engineering activities to India. However i do feel as Delhi has been hosting many other events already other cities should have been preferred . W/e im proud of this :)
