Dravid is most professional sportsman in the world without any doubt. I have seen him practice as a youngster. He is so focused on everything he does. Such a thorough gentleman. No histrionics. No Deepika, no controversies, no flamboyance, no balck mark etc etc. He is an exceptional personality. I wish I could be mor elike him. He got married according to his parents, very low key, now has a kid, dream of every man in India. When I lived in Bangalore, I never saw him in the news, cutting ribbons, inaugrating a fashion show, walking the ramp, getting drunk in a pub, misbehaving with girls...nothing...he is perfecionist!!!!I admire his qualities. The only AD I can remmber of Rahul's is the Reebok AD in retail stores. Do you know? He is the only Indian selected to represent Gillete worldwide along with Federer, Thierry Henry and Tiger Woods!!!!I only hope the youngsters of India follow his example. He is an awesome role model.

I think Rahul is risk averse. so he is always playing safe. His defensive nature may be good in test matches but as a captain and in crunch situations his defensivness can be his undoing.
Rahul Dravid is technically correct but again because of his defensive batting he is susceptible to getting bowled against the incoming delivery.

Rahul has awesome talent and he could have done a lot more if he let himself go. As a captain - he could not motivate and had to resign in disgrace without anyone shedding a tear. The qualities this guy Rohan so happily talks about are the ones that have kept him back from achieving his true potential. I think Rahul was wise enough to realise that interaction with external world saps his energy - as a personality is an introverted type who gets tired in interacting with people he does not know. Hence dependency on authority figures like mom , dad , wife and coach which make him seem spineless.

Hey Anurag, dont say Dravid could not motivate. When u have a foolish selector like Vengaskar criticising him for perfectly legitimate decisions taken at the time it had to be taken, then what could dravid do? What has vengsarkar done when he was playing? His records are hardly inspiring. He was retained in the team even when he had a string of poor scores. He along with his Mumbai club wants Sachin to become captain one last time before he retires & hence were picking fault with Dravid. All the cloak & dagger game played out by the Mumbai club in BCCI is only for the benefit of Mumbai players.

Exactly sir - life is a cloak and dagger game and not for mama's boys. You got to handle those situations. Rahul knows his strengths and has opted out quite wisely knowing it is not his cup of tea. A lot like Manmohan being the genius who made the economy rock and made us rich but cannot go about building bridges and alliances to move to the next level. From being a technocrat to becoming a leader of men .

Sachin ... worse than Rahul as a captain. Though a better player than Rahul ( Rahul is a great player , Sachin is a once in a decade kind of legend ) Sachin won't inspire his school team if he was made the captain.

Mr Shrivastava, what's your take on Sachin being one of the most inefficient captains india has ever seen?

Only Gangu would stand out as a great inspirational captain. And I think he has shown a lot of character in bouncing back after being abused for so much time. Ganguly is also a lot more cosmopolitan who appeals to people without regional biases. Dhoni has makings of a great captain - will take a few years to mature though and he will need to keep his place in the team by being a good WK batsman as well. Yuvraj is very arrogant character - so he will create that "either you are with me or with my enemy" kind of culture.

Anand has had tangible effect on chess in India. Dravid has a negative effect on cricket, not scoring for himself and not letting others to score, too, under "consistent", aaramse cover. None questions his personal life. When it comes to professional acheivements, Rahul could have done better

Mate, Rahul has been a great cricketer. He achived something no one achived in a very long time infact even Azhar could get this one fixed ;) i.e. beating England in England. We thrashed them there.
We also had a good show at Pakistan in Pakistan [ remember the humiliating partnership] . Who else resigned without being pushed..Dravid is a commited player and its a matter of time and we will see ridgemma showering praises..

Dravid is good boy who loves his mama and papa and will listen to every word they say and after marriage listen to his wife. And when as a captain , he found the coach to be his god - afterall guru ka darzaa to bhagwaan ke bhi ooper hota hai....

We cannot get out of Cricket. The Article is for Anand's falicitations. The messages here are only Rahul praise. Nobody can ignore Rahul as a good human being, as a very good cricketer, but why all about Rahul only? Why we should not talk about THE GREATEST VISHWANATHAN ANAND? Mr.Rohan come out with a separate page for Rahul, don't spoil Anand's achievement.
