All above are wrong who say that this may ignite controversy. This was done purposely & with intention to deceive other religions. Other mosque are ther in India, Has she visited any one of them. She just done a publicity stunt so as to make world know that she is Muslim rather Indian. Stop Sania stop. Be Proud to be an India not a Muslim clad tan. Thaink about what country has given you inspite of what you have given to the country. First be an Indian & then a muslim.

Amit - You are right, we had lost all out sensibility due to religions , which in first place were created for letting humans live a good life in organized way, but is used as a weapon by our own friends for killing each other. I don't know where will we reach and what will we achieve by all this.

Well, India is not a monopoly of hindus or muslims, or christians, or buddhists, or low castes, or the brahmins, it is monopoly to all indians unique. sania has done great work to india in uplifting indian tennis image in the world stage. when, she is not in good form or at the losing end, we cannot start blaming her. when it comes to ad, it is companies that benefit through famous personailities, and then the govt that benefits through the taxes applicable for the charges and the personality itself benefits from fees but for this they play hard, here we need to understand it is image that matters to be retained once a personality reaches to top. so they would not intentionally perform under their capacity. we need to give players their personal space, because they are also talented human beings. if, she is wearing a hijab, it is her wish, similarly, if sonia gandhi wants to wear saree and not italian skirt, it is her wish likewise, if mallika sherawat wants not to wear dresses, it is her wish. so we need to respect once personal space. it is the leaders of communities who misguide their communities over issues, so they are culprits.

To all of them, I thikn this issue was blown of unnecassary out of proportion & I do discard all the users have jst been criticising each others religion..,

Honeslty speaking this is the second blog that i was reading very seriously & its good to read about well civilized people still exiting in India from any religion that they belong too!!

I happy to realise there is good amount of human beings in existance no matter which ever religion they belong too & they make an attempt to correct people in polite way rather bad mouthing about religions...

HATS OFF to all who have contirbuted to this blog in postive way there by spreading the message of eqaulity in gender, respect all religions, respect al human beings & earn respect for the same..,

To add am important message there are only two religions in this world which god created to distinguis & thats only Women & Man...

Respect woman guys after dont you forget that you came out of her WOMB with all the hardships, pain & agony that she undergoes only to give a birth to new life which is why every individual is exiting today!!!

Take care.., JAI BHARAT & Well being to all the human kind!!!

Please Guys,

Think about it in a rational way. She is a muslim, so she went for Haj/Umrah and she wore what is an appropriate dress in such circumstances. What's wrong in that?

When we go to temples, don't we wear an appropriate dress? and apply tilak/sindoor etc?

Let us celebrate India's cultural diversity and not bother about caste, religion etc.

Well said Amit... There is no use at all to this religious discussion. There never seems to be an end only heart ache and frustration.
All religions including islam should learn that we follow or love God because of fear. If there is no fear why would we have to turn to anything for support like god? A need for god is born out of fear and people like Messiah and Gurus understand this and market it and make money and exploit us... Why do these truth sayers need me.? We werent born with these religions and fear then why live with it...

Everyone has the right to voice their opinion which I can see being done to full extent here. So why don't i chip-in.
Sania has done enough for our country and Indian women. Our interest in her should be confied to her talent and not her personal life.
Rediff's only intention to publish this picture was to ignite a discussion and possibly a new "un-called for" controversy.

Looking at so many replies discussing instances for hindu+muslim+christian++
simply on one photo, really suprises.Sania is lady of respected, who is making our country proud. Many msgs made me feel nice, becoz they talk of indianship and secularity, but few msgs were really disappointing pinpointing flaws of religions. Why don't we discuss on how we can develop our country rather than discussing abt individual religions. Mark my words,
'We indians, together can and together will make a difference'.But being together is more imp in views and goals for the country, to make that difference. Hope my message makes sense.:)
Enjoy life and enjoy indianism.

Well, v r unneccesarily giving importance to this picture n wasting our time. The most important aspect here is to explain people about Islamic facts.
1.There is a misconception that Islam is just 1500 yrs old whereas the fact is it is from the beginning of human kind since the creation of Adam and Eve.
2.The religion of idol worship came after few years.
3.All the prophets taught Islam only. They were sent to different communities. But people themselves made their names like jews, christians.Whereas the prophets never themselves called by these names. They all belonged to muslim community only. Since muslims also beleive in prophet moses, jesus and all prophets n the last prophet muhammad (saws).
4.Since Islam is spreading so fast in the world. So by this kind of anti-propaganda, they r trying to malign the image of Islam. I agree there will be some black sheeps in every community but u cannot blame on the whole community and religion itself.
5. This era is severe test for muslim community. Nowadays, people dont find fault with western culture which includes nudity, gaymarriage, lesbians, prostitution as lawful but when a muslim woman wears burqa they try to blame Islam.

Hello All friends

We all here are fools, wasting our time , what a person wear. whether it harms a religion or not. First Mind one thing religion are made for us, we are not made for religion. We are human and humanity is main thing in every body life. Terrorist are in any form. They are in Hindu, Muslims , Buddha and also Christians.Like in Irland Christians are terrorist, In palestine Muslims are terrorist and in India both muslims and hindu are terrorist. But everybody should know that not a singleperson in this world wants to be a terrorist. They become terrorist by their side by environment, when they seen something wrong happen with them. It is basically a political problem. And my appel to all religions that let have peace for years and years. do not biased by any one and do not join any jehad or terrorist organisation.

Hi All,

We all tend to identify ourselves is some way or the other. Some of us are more of Indians and less of Bengalies, Kannadigas or Tamilians where as for some of us it could be the other way round. Similarly some of us are Hindus and Muslims before we are Indians and for some its just the opposite ( which i think is better). Also at different phases of our lives and experiences we tend to change our identity. A upper class hindu denied a seat in a university becasue of reservations would not feel too much patriotic about the Indian state- similarly a muslim/hindu ill-treated somewhere because of religion might start identifying him/her self more as per religion than state/regions ( Tamilian, Malayali etc) or country ( Indian).

Now how does Sania identify herself- an Indian, Musilim, Tennis player...? she is the best judge and she can comment on that but as an Indian i give her the choice that she wants to make and should respect her choice. Likewise i would respect the choice made by each and every citizen of my country and woudl expect a reciprocative treatement.
May peace be on our country and all citizens. lets become broadminded and progress together. if .........

man saying that Idol worship is there for the past few hundred.. I want to say one to MIR who wrote.. This whole and the universe were the creations of Trimurties.. Brahma, Vishnu and Shive. They are the Kartha Karma Kriya. So to say Idol worship has been there recently is wrong.

You said Islam is there from Adam eve.. Hinduism.. is there well before that.

To say that one religions exists before another religion is wrong. Every body know how Islam was formed and when Islam was formed.

Every are much Burqa... I want I read somany books on this. Wearing burqa or veil in BDubai makes some sense. But I donot know why they are wearing In India. The weather in gulf countries is too harsh so they cover there body to protect them selves from. If u see the burqa's they wear are in White color and not in black color. Even men wear those things. So what makes some fanatics say that burqa is must actually they were there to protect from.

Guyz relax, i m sure sorab is frm cross-border,jus tryin to b a smart a**, jus turn deaf ear to him, itz like dog barkin on the sun, itz not gonna disturb the unity in our country. We all r knitted by a common thread of unity, which makes us feel that we r one,n that we r indians. And also i dont think , sania should b a issue on rediff.. ppl should chill not make issue on what ppl r wearing, rather look in the mirror, n jus care for how we r goin to tke this country fwd, as itz our responsibility to do so. Plz guyz , jus b a good citizen to the country by takin some social responsibilities...n ignore the above topics......

Sania is one of our nation's prides. She is not only a super-achiever, she has a great head on her shoulders and clearly comes from a wonderful and pious family. Can we not just be supportive of her and steer clear of silly discussions? I don't have a daughter but I would have been so very proud to have one like her - how many of us would not be?
If it matters - and unfortunately from the tone and tenor of the discussion it does - I am a Hindu and I believe that it is important to first be a good human being and to open the gifts of talent God has given us all. On that score, Sania, who is less than half my age, is way ahead of people like me.
