Nuclear fuel cannot be a substitute for oil based power in current times. India needs to be able to bargain effectively(through all means and politicking) and buy big oil-fields prudently from time to time like china, west does. Oil barrel prices will hit 200$ and 300$ in next few years. Forget economic growth, India will be a done case and relegated to a slave nation again if it can't think and act smart in dealing with russia, middle east.

US will bomb Iran to stone age. Once Iran is tackled, peace and quiet will prevail all over Middle East. US will establish democracy in all arab contries. All ignorance and hatred will be erased from the surface of the earth. We must be allied with USA to reap the benefit. We should offer to nuke Iran since it is continuing bomb building to destroy Israel. Do not talk about buying oil and gas from them. Their days are numbered.

USA doesn't think about India as much as you do about that country. It wouldn't think twice about bombing India to stone age if it comes in it's way or putting it to untold miseries had it got the coveted oil resources like middle-east. India has to realize that it has got no friends in this world; only partners, that too on a priority and need basis.

Oil is already down from its peak and will go back to 30 to 50 dollar range. Your assertion of $300 oil is ridiculous. US will fix it if it hurts them.

oil prices doubled in less than two years. There is no reason to believe it will not double again, and quadruple in next few years if the OPEC desires so. USA can afford it, because it sits on Iraq's oil reserves and controls the flow of oil in persian gulf. Indian exchequer is already heavily burdened with the soaring oil prices.

And US has also its own Domestic oil reservs. It also owns several unexplored Alaskan Oil reserves. So,in nutshell high oil prices don't hurt them.

It would console India to a great extent if the oil prices dropped to the extent you mention. But seems less likely according to several expert predictions. Maybe it has to do with wider geopolitical games that has usa, china, russia and middle-east involved. India suffers in the process.

Mr.Gopal very very good thinking and argument.Your last sentence "Maybe it has to do with wider geopolitical games that has usa, china, russia and middle-east involved. India suffers in the process." sums up the present situation.See how Australia supplies uranium to China and not to India. I only hope and prey that our stategic thinkers/foreign policy planners keep their eyes open.I should not say this but general perception is that officials Have developed a bias towards US.

As luck would have it, US would have bombed the whole Middle East.Instead of bombing Iran, it is trying to hide behind India and push the sheep westward. You won't have Khalistan by bombing Iran.
