Good Sense Must Prevail
by Pradip on May 30, 2008 11:56 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Pranab Mukherjee is a very capable man. People in the defence enclosure says that he acted very efficiently while running that ministry. The only plausible reason for his shifting may be to deal with a very complex foreign policy dynamics that India needs to cruise along. The fundamental tenet of any foreign policy dictum is to look after perpetual interest and not consistent bon homie with any particular blocs etc. The strategic leverage that India can achieve through a declining western power can not be accomplished in tying a nuptial knot with any ascending power, neither one should not confront with an emboldened growing strength.I failed to understand the logic of the main opposing force of the deal the left, more so, in the face of an 123 agreement between Russia and US where the beneficiary is China which gets enriched uranium owing to the terms and conditions of the aforesaid agreement. Now, why the hell India should not capitalize that strategic advantage? This is brazen political expediency. This happens when NATION'S AGENDA IS HIJACKED BY PERSONAL GRATIFICATIONS GIVEN AN IDEOLOGICAL TWIST. No one is a Messiah, no country is, what remains constant is PERPETUAL NATIONAL INTEREST. The whole nuclear establishment has supported the deal even Dr. Kalam endorsed it, I THINK, COME WHAT MAY CONGRESS SHOULD GO AHEAD WITH THE DEAL, IN THE AFTERMATH OF A HUNG PARLIAMENT LEFT WILL BE LEFT WITH NO OPTION BUT TO SUPPORT A CONGRESS LED GOVT. THIS IMAGE CHANGE WILL HELP CONGRESS.

these commies die for chinese cause. Whereas china treats these indian commies nothing more than their traitors. if commies are so supportive for china, why can't they influence the china to remove their troops from the north east regions.

These indian commies are joke - they threatened to withdraw support if the olympic torch is not passed safely. The same commies are mum when china blocked the Hindu pilgrims.

People wake up - time to think and vote out these pseudo forces.

Your sympathy for Mukherjee and the Congress Party as a whole is a moot force driving you to support the Deal. But its not a simple arithmatic. Ultimately India will have to dismantle her nuclear arsenals. Us will no be able to force it on China. USA was mute to Tibet being swallowed by China. CIA dropped the plan of a counter-coup. China has a regimented political structure of military dictatorship of some sorts. To compare India with China is silly. However India is a vascillating nation and unfocussed on foreign issues. India all along mixed economics and foreign affairs with domestic vote bank politics and never really opend out to Israel and the USA.
