Greatest Crime
by edge on May 30, 2008 02:02 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The greatest crime of Casteism wasn't simply that much of what it claimed was false, but that it claimed to be the sole and utterly complete path to understanding life and reality. It’s history's worst ideologies a doctrine of historical predestination. There is nothing more gray, stultifying, or dreary than a life lived inside the confines of a theory of Casteism. Let us hope that in the era of science & technology Casteists learn humility to accept the truth. No nation can move forward unless its children are taught to look squarely at their own history, the good and the bad, the evil and the pure. Our Constitution recognises that `casteism' is a centuries-old vicious ideology founded on hate, violence and exclusion from equality, opportunity, empowerment and resources. The Protection of Civil Rights Act 1955-1976 and the SC and ST (Atrocities) Act 1989 underline this commitment.
