I don’t know whether it is a time to rejoice for India. The fact remains that India enjoyed very good relations with Nepal with its monarchial kings.Monarchy stands abolished now in Nepal. The Maoists have won hands down. Maoists will definitely use their new found electoral clout as leverage over India. Till today there was not much demarcation between India and Nepal. People from both countries could work and stay in either countries. India used its harmonious relations with Nepal in order to maintain security posts in northern border with China. Now the Maoists would definitely curb these advantages enjoyed by India till today. Maoists have a great clout in northern India bordering Nepal and among the tribals in Central India and in Andhra Pradesh too. The communist parties are hand in glove with the Maoists. All this seems very ominous for India’s politics. India should start gearing itself against any insurgency by the Maoists here in India. I just hope the Indian Government is not lax in its attitude as always and understands the gravity of the situation in Nepal and doesn’t leave matters to Chance.
