Regional parties not conducive to national interests
by mallaiah anchoori on May 25, 2008 11:15 PM   Permalink

It will be good if TRS,the regional party led by a self styled and disgruntled politician ired by his unsuccess to get berth in the ministry in TDP also meets with the same fate as in Karnataka in the ensuing state elections.Except rare regional parties like TDP all others in the country have miserably failed to deliver the goods to the people. These parties like TRS or SivaSena with their parochial out look floated mainly to rake up/ exploit the sentiments of locals with the sole aim of gaining political mileage so as to capture power and with avoidable expenditure to the national exchequer by their ding dong political moves culminating in bye elections etc.serve no national interest. They are mostly used as pawn by major parties in securing numbers towards majority in the event of the latter unable to form government with its thin numbers;in other words they serve as means to manipulate by the major parties. There is a felt need to discourage mushroom growth of such regional parties which only add to the size of the ballot paper & forgo even the deposits of their candidates in the interest of avoiding confusion to the electorate & enable them to have a clear vision of perspective of competence of the parties in the race. When the entire world is towards the concept of "Vasudhak Kutumb"(oneness of the whole world),these parties hanker around slogans like "Separate Telangana","Non-locals go back" etc.In fact, there should be only two parties in our country like in USA/UK.
