Sad!
by Ahmad Nawaz on May 20, 2008 02:08 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I think the religions and cultures might be a little different but people on both sides of the border are politically naive and ignorant. The politicians on both sides sit together and sip tea and enjoy listening to the oldies while the ignorant masses are hell bent on killing each other. Honestly, this will not change because if it did then these corrupt politicians will not stay in power and lose their easy and only source of income. The message in all this: look around the world people. The world has moved on, you guys are still bickering about what the Mughals did and why Pakistan was formed. Just 200 years ago America was a Btish colony too. They were enemies. They had nothing in common. The BRits were Anglican and the Americans Protestant Christians and Puritans. But look at them now. They are united because they have the same roots and same SKIN! But how would the blind and myopic desis see that???

I agree with you. I long to see more mature people like you on this board. May your tribe increase. If only we could get rid of these opportunist and devious politicians on both sides of the border!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Fried Yakov,

I really think the only practical solution to this problem is a good, secular, agressive leader who will enact laws to force people to put aside their ethnic, cultural, caste, and religious differences and work on more important goals for a society like India. This society for the most part needs a change in mentality. I think Indians are very smart people but they are also very emotional. They think with their hearts. And, that is the Achilles heel. When you have a bunch of people who are willing to let somebody else make the decisions for them then there is no hope for change. These politicians have kept the divisions propogated by the British Colinialism alive till this day. Back then the Brits benefitted from the old divide and rule politics and now it is these native politicans.
